I consider myself to be a very competent snow driver and my KM2s are pretty abysmal in hardpacked snow. Luckily Denver only gets a few days of that per year, but if I was regularly in those kind of conditions during the winter I would most definitely choose a different tire.
As mentioned in a prior post, I had a few goodies coming my way courtesy of Pelfreybilt and Wheelers. It was already in the works prior to my trip to Moab a few weeks ago but after doinking some of the undercarriage on rocks it re-affirmed my decision to put a little bit of armor on my belly...
Anyone ever tried to rebuild a Rotopax handle? As I mentioned, mine bent this previous trip and so far I have radio silence from Rotopax on any potential resolution. It looks like they pin the bolt into the handle; I'm thinking of drilling the pin out, loctite'ing in a bolt, then cutting the...
It's funny, right now I have the handle isolator and a few wraps of electrical tape down near the foot of the jack and its STILL loud. I may have to pick up one of the covers and see if that helps things out a bit. Unfortunately I am very tuned in to sounds that the truck should not be making...
I can't speak from personal experience, only ample Internet research, but I would strongly caution against doing some passes (namely Black Bear) on your stockers. the margin for error is too small to risk the lack of traction. You would probably be fine on some of the more mellow ones however...
It was! I highly recommend doing some or all of it if you find yourself in the area.
The ARB is mounted behind the passenger headlight. As I have the SR5 some of the room above the passenger wheel is taken up whereas that is free and clear in the Off Road models.

I made the opportunity over this past weekend to finally take the truck out. Between fixing my heater, unclogging overflowing drains, doing a bathroom renovation, and ripping out walls to stem the inflow of water into my finished basement, I have been very busy with the house.
Anyway, the lady...
It's nice to see the condensed version posted here instead of trolling through the 400+ pages on Tacomaworld. It's also cool to see the trials and tribulations of your build and wheeling experiences along the way. I keep coming back hoping for more.
You must be in a good market then. Around here something a year or two older with 50K on the clock was $2K less than new.
As far as any years that are better, not really. With the exception of cosmetics the 2005+ are all mostly the same.
Why would the ground wire from the battery in the bed need to be that long? Looking at that diagram I don't see any reason it needs to be any longer than a few feet to go down to a suitable ground point on the frame.
The Optima blue tops are AGM batteries. Under normal operating conditions...
I've always loved your build, but what I have loved even more are the places and adventures you've taken on the truck on. Good to see you over on this site as well.
Thanks!
and I don't have a dent on the hood, I have several! See that nice big pine tree in my neighbors yard? It shed some good sized sticks during a windy night about 2 months after I bought the truck. The ding on the door is legit too, as is one on the bed side. All courtesy of others, all...
I know it's been a while since I last updated this but as I alluded to in the prior post, I have been busy playing home owner and renovating our upstairs bathroom. Total buzzkill I know but I have sneaked away to work on the truck a little bit.
At this point I am kind of running into a time...
Cool! I think I have an idea what wood you are talking about. In fact I just used some to replace the subfloor in my bathroom. That fun little project has kept me away from the truck for too long. I wouldn't mind checking your platform out sometime, my timeline at this point has a platform being...
