Does the future also include a bumper + winch?
Also, I know convention says you aren't supposed to re-use u-bolts. Now I don't know what caveats are placed on that, and I have done it in the past, but I've always been a bit apprehensive.
I don't know if it has any purpose other than a platform for your RTT, but if that is it's single purpose I'd just cut the uprights off and figure out a way to fasten the tent to the platform portion. As to the MPG hit you could put an extension out front to integrate a wind deflector, but there...
Does it have a large enough footprint for your tent? I personally would not be entirely comfortable with the RTT sitting up that high. If the spare tire up there feels too heavy just imagine the impact of a RTT sitting up an additional foot. I would also be wary of the structural integrity of...
I'd give the Prinsu rack a B+ so far, though the knock on it may be more related to the choice to get the standard crossbars instead of the heavy duty ones. Admittedly I do have a significant amount of weight up there right now with a Hi-Lift, a full rotopax, a shovel, and a bike rack, but there...
That's some new fangled emissions stuff that if I'm not mistaken, was added to the 2012+ year models. Kind of unfortunate as between that and the ABS they take up the majority of the previously free space on the passenger fender.
Granted I haven't hit any sweet jumps in my truck, but the platform does a pretty good job at staying put by itself. If you want some extra security, you could run some turnbuckles to the d-rings at the tailgate side. The cab side is a bit trickier as they didn't include any tie downs, but you...
It's funny you ask that as I have been going back and forth recently on how much to build the truck up. It is my daily driver as well, so I don't want to do anything too ridiculous or compromise the reliability as I don't own another vehicle to fall back on. In addition to that, the GF (soon to...
I can't verify the 175lbs as I did not weigh it during installation but I can assure you that it is a very stout bumper. Certainly over 100lbs (hell the mounting bracket itself must have weighed in somewhere between 30-40), but I'm not sure I'd go as high as 175lbs. After all, I was able to...
Overall I like the ARB. It has the upside of being a proven, reliable design that's readily available. The only downsides that I have discovered thus far are it's weight and that you have to cut a strip from the top of your OEM bumper in order to fill up some of the gap. I still haven't done...
ARB it is then!
There is most definitely a condensation issue when sleeping in the topper. The two of us usually end up with droplets on all of the windows even with the two sides mostly open throughout the night. If this topper was my final solution I would definitely add a fan, but given...
So my siblings came out to visit for the first time since I moved here two years ago. As part of their introduction we took a trip around Colorado. The itinerary was to head down to Southwest Colorado to Silverton/Ouray, then up to Crested Butte, camp a night in Granby, then head up over Trail...
I tried drilling out the bolt from the Rotopax handle this weekend with mixed success. I was able to get the bolt out, but not without potentially rendering the handle useless. I wasn't able to drill all the way through the roll pin, even using some brand new bits. It just wouldn't. So I cut the...
Thanks! I'd certainly recommend Pelfreybilt when it comes time for you to armor up.
I'll give that a shot. I tried tying it up with some rubber twist ties to no avail. Of course I'm not certain at this point that it's the foot, it could also be the lifting mechanism as well.
