Well, post lift and I'm still sorting through the various noises that got introduced to the system. The dakar spring packs appear to creak/groan during compression and I still (post sway bar removal) have a clunk up front. A little investigating tonight showed me that the LCA bolts were not...
Most definitely. I also have to check to make sure my brake lines are long enough as they appeared to be getting a little bit too taut for my comfort.
Hell yea! I'm still pretty new to the area/scene so it would be great to meet a few other people. I'm at 108th and Wads.
I also ordered up a piece of aluminum to fabricate the auxiliary fuse block/breaker bracket. I'm hoping to tackle that at some point this upcoming weekend. This time around I'll leave ample room on the top surface for a dual battery controller (future mod).
Parts are also in hand to do the...
In other news I tackled the clanking noise I had in the front end around sharp corners with suspension compression that appeared after lifting. I had a feeling it was the struts contacting the sway bar as I did not use a sway bar drop bracket during the lift install. Turns out I was correct, the...
So it would appear that after multiple trips to their facility over the past few weeks the guys at ToyTec know me by name. I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. :sombrero:
I was able to exchange my OME rear shocks for a set of Icon 2.0 non-reservoir no fuss. I still have not heard back...
I hear you on this dilemma as I'm in the same boat myself. Keep in mind that Bud Built offers more than just 3/16" steel skid plates, they also offer aluminum in 1/4" which should provide weight savings, though they come at a premium price wise. Bud Built also offers a "Lite Steel" option at...
Everyone knows that stickers make things look more professional. So with that in mind I put on a TRD: Expedition sticker. Now it's official. ;)

Why thank you. It's been nice to be able to make constant and consistent progress. Not too too much more now before I'll have to slow down for a little bit.
Thanks!
If you ever want to check it out in person just let me know. I'm more than happy to meet up for a beer and talk trucks...
Did some fooling around with the rear shocks last night and the conclusion stays the same, they do not fit. Well, at least not if I value their integrity as a shock absorber. All pictures are taken with the full weight of the vehicle on the wheels. Here's what things look like.
Stock rear shock...
Shortly after having finished off the lift it became blatantly obvious that I badly needed an alignment. Luckily I had already set up an appointment with James at Tires Plus at 120th and Washington in Northglenn. Props to him because he had me straightened out and ready to rock pretty quickly...
I'll confirm it when I get home this evening, but after installing a set of Light Racing UCAs this past weekend I don't believe the torque spec was anywhere close to 135 ftlbs. In fact, if I recall correctly, Toyota calls for something more like 85 ftlbs.
Just for reference, the tools used when installing the OME lift and Light Racing upper control arms are as follows.
1 1/4" socket
22mm deep socket
21mm deep socket
19mm socket
19mm wrench!!! Necessary to do the driver's side front leaf spring bolt.
17mm socket and/or wrench
14mm socket
12mm...
So a couple of buddies and I installed my lift and UCAs yesterday. We started at 8:15 or so in the morning and were done at 11:45, so it went pretty quickly. As expected, the most time consuming part of it was bending the sheet metal on the inside of the fender well to clear the bolts. All went...
The tentative plan is to install the lift and control arms this Saturday. I'm looking forward to getting this thing on proper suspension though it's going to look pretty funny rolling around on the stock 245/75s until I find a good place to get an alignment done.
