The Transit doesn’t have the GVWR for those applications so the E series may just go on a lot longer than they predicted, must be good profits with the development costs low at this point.

That is a big leap to an 8x8, if you could live with a 6x6 then you could go with an Acela 6x6 or the original 6x6 military surplus truck.

Buy an E series cutaway and get a 4 wheel drive conversion and have a Total Composites box mounted to create your own custom EKKO like rig. Total Composites can refer you to companies that can do as much of the build as you want...
Not sure driving a bare 2wd chassis is going to tell you much since without any weight it is not going to ride very well and the front suspension and tires will be nothing like the final build.
Maybe you could take a GXV for a test drive at GXV if they have one available.

Our 33,000 lb GVWR GXV is titled as a motorhome and has been registered in Michigan originally and now Florida. Regular drivers license is legal to drive motorhomes of any weight in those two states which would make it legal in all states where you drive. Have no idea what happens anywhere else...
