the mitsu delicas are not that mini. more like toyota van or mazda MPV size. Very popular up here for the surfers etc. seem fairly tough but also seen alot of them wrecked in the junkyard due to novice RHD drivers.
compared to the ipads 12 hours the slates 5 hours looks pretty dismal! If it can't make it through an 8 hour work day of continual use then its going to lose allot of appeal.
sounds like a nice rig. Does the dodge van have coil springs in the front? you could fit some spring spacers up front and a lift block in the back and some bigger tires will get you most places you would want to take a van. Also consider looking underneath and skidplating anything low hanging...

with all the new crap on the new diesels I would stay away from any new diesel truck motor right now. I would be buying a 2005 or 2006 truck (dodge with 6 spd) and work on getting it in like new condition.

take a really close look at your flex lines (the rubber ones) they may be soft and allowing the hot fluid to expand them rather than go into the caliper.
I have done the buried tire trick and it worked for my light little rig although it was alot of work! I carry a fullsize shovel with me now after that experience
