    '03 Tacoma Build

I'm curious to see what you do with the skids, I plan on fabbing my own and want to make sure they don't need to be pulled for an alignment. Off of the top of my head I can think of the both front and rear lower control arm bolts and the tie rod ends as the big things you need easy access to...

    Looking at a 2000 4Runner, some concerns...?

If that were my truck i would very inclined to look carefully at the rear axle etc... "It has a reconstructed title and the guy backed it into a tree while camping so it needs a new hatch. The title is because it was side swiped last year but the insurance pictures didn't look to bad (both...

235/85 or 265/75 for montero sport

When you said that you are concerned with mpg and puncture resistance, that seems a bit contradicting to me. As was mentioned before, the lighter p-rated, mild tread tires will give you the best milage, but a more off road oriented lt tire is going to give you more puncture resistance at the...

235/85 or 265/75 for montero sport

Just curious, but what LT 265's are you finding in less than e range? I chose 265/75/16 dura tracs because they were one of the few 265's with an a/t tread design and a load range c. Mike

Anybody run load range C tires?

Much like stioc, I run 265/75/16 dura tracs in a load range c on my 3rd gen 4runner. So far they have proven durable enough, altough the sidewall is noticably thinner than the 265/75/15 falken wildpeaks i had on my montero sport that i drove prior to the 4runner. My reason for going to a load...

    My 2001 Pathfinder (R50 ) mild/budget build

I like where your skidplate is heading! I have built a few skids out of 1/8th in material with great results. If i may offer some input: ~1x1x1/8th (or thicker) angle welded to the backside can add a lot of strength. ~bends on the edges can add some rigidity as well, if you don't have a good...

    Homemade Roofracks.

Mustangwarrior, Those gussets are actually mounts for my highlift. I made a few stainless steel "wing bolts" that screw into those gussets and sandwich the high lift between two leaf spring bushings. In the past it has worked well. Copy away at your free will!

    Homemade Roofracks.

The coating process was a bit of a mess actually, I started with a two part epoxy primer and then tried to do a two part gloss black top coat. After the first brushed on coat of that took more than two days to dry, I decided to rattle can it. I used some sort of industrial anti-rust coating...

    Homemade Roofracks.

Oddly enough, a full length drip rail was something i said my next vehicle would have after i sold my montero sport. Clearly I screwed that one up with a 3rd gen 4runner! Mike

    Homemade Roofracks.

Ghostring, Yes its very close to the roof, 1/4 inch in the center, due to a design flaw on my part that wasn't realized until the rack was completed. With 125 pounds placed directly on the center "x" the rack will deflect just enough to hit the roof. I'm thinking some spacers underneath the...

4th Generation 4Runner. Getting back into the fray

Clearance? I don't need clearance! Seriously though, its about 1/4 inch. Design flaw on my part, i accounted for the curvature of the roof perpendicular to the rails, but not parallel. If it should hit the roof is VERY flexible in that area. I (all 125 lbs) stood on the rack at that node...

    Homemade Roofracks.

This thread was a big inspiration for me, and i wanted to share my recently completed rack for my 3rd gen 4runner. It's small but should prove to be another step in the right direction when it comes to cargo organization.

    Long Jeep.....chasing unicorns

I'm a smaller guy at 5'7" and 125, but i loved the seats in my friends 2010 xterra. Seemed to be a nice durable material and sat up pretty high, which i liked, although that was probably more due to floor construction than the seat itself. He was a bigger guy at 6' and 220 and had nothing but...

    Long Jeep.....chasing unicorns

My thoughts As a guy who has read your dodge and willys thread, i'm very excited to see where this goes. You're building one of my dream vehicles..... Initially, this came to mind. http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/projectbuild/131_0902_jeep_cj8_scrambler_build/ But after reading more about your...

    99 Gen 2.5 // Crankshaft issues

I dealth with a similar issue on a g16 suzuki motor. My problem ended up being the woodruff key that is used to locate the crankshaft pulley, I can partially see it in one of the pictures. But it would never hurt to make sure the fit is tight to the crankshaft pulley and the groove in the...
