This.
As someone who has spent a LOT of time with backcountry rangers (both LEO and interpreter/techs) for USFS, BLM, and NPS… I can attest as well that not only do they know the difference and what vehicles are appropriate for what roads/trails, but also a good number of them are extremely...
Nice. Makes total sense.
It’s not fiberglass but our neighbor just popped a smartcap on his f250 and it looks really nice and certainly has some cool features.
Fourth for the exped megamat. We got the XL and it’s fantastic for wife and I and the tiny human when she doesn’t want to sleep on her own. Arguably close in comfort to our home mattress.
Nice rig. We have the ARE CX HD on our power wagon, with the internal aluminum framework and 500lb crossbars. Been pretty great. Only things I wish for would be a win door on one side and the fold-down glass on the front. But we got it used as part of a trade, so the price was right
I still use Avenza as well. MVUMs and agency travel maps are the legal definition of open routes, so I tend to stick with them. I’ll cross reference to google maps or another app where necessary or to help with planning.
In the power wagon with the fam… 5gal Home Depot bucket with a lid, kitchen trash bag inside. Usually try to minimize trash before the trip and snack/cab trash goes into the gas station bins. Grocery bag for recyclables to take home. Bucket stays in the bed under the fiberglass shell at night...
I’ll second this. That is amazingly clean and certainly looks meant-to-be-together.
Well done. Gonna show my wife this as how we spend her upcoming severance package. 😂
We’ve got a 2018. Daily about 50% of the time when my xterra is up a running.
Other than being big and thirsty I don’t mind daily driving it at all.
Bought ours with 14k in Oct 2020, now around 73k. Driven to/from lower48 twice. No major issues over that span. I do use it for power wagon things...
Yeah. Quite chilly.
No issues other than the insides of the windows icing up a bit even on full defrost. I stayed in hotels (truck was fully packed to make our return to the northern great land, so no room for even a sleeping bag to be layed out). The hotels I stayed at in Edmonton, Fort...
Went for a little drive in the power wagon a couple weeks ago.
Beulah, ND to Anchorage, AK. Leading into a serious cold snap.
2650mi (uncorrected)
Avg 11.7 ( plausible)
Avg mph 53
Time 50:09:37
I drove from ND to AK leading up to that week.
Chilly is a word.
Frigid is more accurate.
“Seriously f’ing freezing” is best.
Ram thermometer stopped reading at -33F. Local weather showed -45F. Yes I went for a swim at the hot springs.
I’m not shy with taking our Power Wagon out on the stuff it’s capable of. That’s why we bought it, and knowingly took the obvious and glaring payload loss. But we wanted the crew cab (2 adults plus a tiny human and not tiny dog) and the capability vs payload and putting a camper on it full time...
