And if a steel rack breaks finding someone to weld it in a place like the Andes of Ecuador is going to be easier than finding someone who can weld an aluminum rack.

Don't forget your racks are very critical in the search for a good pannier system. I've seen too many Ortlieb panniers come through the shop mounted to cheap racks that couldn't support the weight loaded on them, or didn't have the adjustment to move the panniers far enough back to avoid the...
I run 2x9 xtr on one of my hardtails, and really like it. That big rear cog on the sram appeals to me. I had a co-worker about 7-8 years ago set up his epic with 2x10. He used Campy Record flatbar shifters and drivetrain. He did it more as an anti-shimano move though.
I like the valve cap! It...
How are you liking the 2x10? I've worked on a couple brand new bikes with it and I liked it then, but I haven't see any drivetrains with more than 400-500 miles on them.
What the heck is that thing on your front valve stem? That's alot of rotational weight!

It would seem to me that if your pulling horses(how much does that weigh anyway) with a camper a diesel would definitely be the way to go. Doesn't the tundra with the crewmax have a payload of like 1500lbs?
If Ford is the only choice for diesels, the 2010 Superduties are so overshadowed by the...
Well neither Surly listed above is really capable of running disc brakes. In the surly line I would look at the Karate Monkey. That could be setup with discs, 1x9 and 29er wheels. Disc brakes and racks sometimes require a little creativity when mounting the two, but now there are several racks...
I was noticing in the linked article that they show two different rear axles for the 250 and the 350. I thought it was common for 3/4 and 1-ton platforms to share these components, except for possible gearing changes. Is this common to have two different rear axles?
That thing is rad! I enjoy the natural hotsprings when I'm fortunate to be staying near one, but having your own sauna waiting back in the campsite would be great after a hike, ski or mtb ride! Are you concerned about th height of the chimney at all when driving?

Is FWC still planning on being at the DelMar Fred Hall show in a couple weeks? Any ideas what campers you will be bringing down? I would like to see a camper with the dinette option(hint, hint)...
Thanks

The current Racer-X bikes are also 100mm(105 to be exact), so this FRAME is pretty darn similar to the 2009 Aluminum Racer-X. For 2010 the aluminum frame went to more shaped and sloped tubing. This is a super efficient design.

I took it to Napa that day and he load tested them. They came out great. The house battery in the camper was a different story though. That will need to be replaced.

Late last week as I was getting ready to roll out for Joshua Tree I found my '06 Cummins wouldn't start because some dumb ***(me) left a couple lights on for almost a week in my camper and I don't have an isolator(This week I will though). So I needed a jumpstart and the rent a cop security guy...
I don't drive with a heavy right foot, and yes I'm running the stock tires for now. This summer I'm planning on doing the Thuren Kings, Springs, and probably the bumpstops. I'm also planning on pulling out the firestone airbags and replacing them with the Carli long travel bags. Then by fall...
I have a pretty much stock '06 reg cab long bed auto. The front end needs some addressing as do the stock shocks, but my piggybank is slowly filling up and will be getting some Kings this summer. With my 2300lb lance camper(big wind resistance) I get 14.6-14.8 driving all around the hilly west...
Man that's a killer setup!
Are you running limiting straps? Are those the Carli springs? What about the shock towers-stock or aftermarket?
Thanks
-Chris
What is the height from the flatbed to the top of the cab? Do you find you have any issues with frame flex when driving offroad making your camper into a rhombus shape? Do you have notches in the bottom of the camper that the wheel wells fit into?
Thanks
