    Pop up plans on ebay

Based on the limited photos am I right in assuming that the "kitchen" is located on the end of the bed that is back against the truck cab? I'm also curious how this thing folds/unfolds so that hardwalls end up flush and the door looks like it becomes one solid assembly. Did you build one? -Chris

    29'ers Rock

What alot of people do who want a 29er and a commuter is they will run more of a road tire instead of the traditional mtb tire on the road. There is quite a selection since the iso (622 mm) is the same as a road bike. A nice 700 x 35 or 38 rolls really well and will hold their shape on most...

    Rooftop A/C non-electric

I thought the XP Camper had an a/c unit that ran off his AGM battery bank, but I don't see anything about it on his website. Maybe it was in the video interview from overland expo last year when he mentioned it.... Also when Carlyle built up his Alaskan camper he tried a couple AC units>>...

Several questions about Ram 2500/3500 Cummins...

For what it's worth I bought an '06 2500 4x4 Reg cab Long bed CTD w/ 32k miles from our local dodge dealer last March for $23.5k out the door. I really wanted the mid-sized cab(I forget what they call it) w/ 8' bed, but I couldn't find one in my price range and meeting my other requirements...

    Frame saver?

I also always use Weigle Frame Saver in my steel frames. Water sometimes can't get down to the bb shell. And I agree that it is cheap insurance. I've seen frames rust out through the toptube where moisture collected that seeped down the seatpost and down the toptubes venthold(I suspect that was...

    You guys jinxed me! (tubeless)

I usually run standard tires with stans. I've never had to walk out. I've gotten a couple flats on the trail(over a 7 year period of running tubeless), but I carry one spare tube, a tube patch kit, and a tire patch. To each his own. -Chris

    Garage storage set up

I like to hang mine vertical. A hook in every stud and then I alternate the height by about 18" to allow for the handlebars to clear. The more "Frequentlish Ridden Bikes" The more "Projectish Bikes" Which I didn't alternate heights on for some reason that is escaping me at the moment... And...

Hard tail or Soft tail Mountain Bike?

But they, carbon bars, do have a longer life cycle of such vibrations. I'm no engineer, but that's what I've been told for the past 10 years since carbon bars have been the dominant handlebar material. -Chris

Tubeless tires setup for mountain bikes

I spend my summers over on the east side of WA near Yakima and I ride tubeless always in my rear tire. I use a "regular tube tire" with a mavic tubeless rim and stans sealant. Yes it does help with the thorns - I can look at my tire and see dozens of broken off thorns in it. If you think you...

Hard tail or Soft tail Mountain Bike?

I know a couple shops in the area there have demo full suspension bikes that you can rent to try out on the actual trails. The rental fee is generally returned if you purchase a bike from them. Even if you don't buy it from them or don't even like that model it's better to invest $60 and know...

Hard tail or Soft tail Mountain Bike?

One of my favorite mtb rides is Little Pine looped back around to Camusea just over old san marcos pass. I rode hardtails, ti and aluminum, when I lived in Goleta and rode those trails, but it was also the time I made the switch to FS bikes for 80% of my mtb riding. How's Gibraltar these days? I...

Air pressure in lieu of water pump?

This is the way old VW's windshield sprayers worked. The water bladders had a schrader valve on them. Some of the systems were even plumbed into the spare tire, which was not too great. You would have clean windows but eventually a flat tire especially since the systems were prone to leaks. -Chris

    Snowsport Forums

I'm able to get out into the Mtns quite abit. I've been in the Northwest since a week before Christmas, and now I'm up in Colorado for the week. Then it's back to SD where I can ski or snowshoe in the morning and surf in the afternoon. I stumbled across summitpost.org the other day, and that...

    Snowsport Forums

In an attempt to break out of my self-imposed isolation I'm trying to find a forum similar to EP, but that focuses on snowsports(skiing, mountaineering, and snowshoeing are my interests) where I can possibly find some other people with those interests and trade route and conditions info...

Pop up and Pop Out Camper

This is awesome. I would love to see a video of the top lifting if possible!! I've been planning a hardsided poptop similar to an Alaskan, and would love to see how you accomplished your hardsided poptop. There seems to be so much headroom in the sleeping section yet it folds so flat and low...

    awning material?

Repurposing material Has anyone used old sails? Here in San Diego I frequently find old sails for pretty much free, but hadn't had much use for them. They are usually pretty worn out for their intended purpose, but, even if they are torn, there is probably enough material for a small to...
