    Garmin Edge 605

I'm finally looking to get my first gps unit. I've been casually looking for over 10 years, but this is the time! What I want to do: Use it on my road and mtb bike. Use it for backcountry skiing and snowshoeing. Be able to plan a trip in the comfort of my house on my mac using one of those topo...

    Disc brakes vs. Rim Brakes

You should be able to piece the parts together for about $250 and probably another $50 of shop labor, if you don't want to try and do it yourself. Getting your old cassette off and onto the new wheel is the hardest bike specific tool/skill required for the whole procedure. -Chris

How does it work lifting the cabover Alaskan in blowing snow like your Montana shot? Do you end up with a bed full of snow? Thanks -Chris

    Disc brakes vs. Rim Brakes

I've never worked at a GT dealer so my knowledge of their specific models is limited, but I can only recall the Tequesta bikes from the mid-late 1990's. Those bikes did not have disc brake tabs welded on the frame, which would make them not disc brake compatible. But GT may have made a later...

    Disc brakes vs. Rim Brakes

In addition to this statement, the rim brake 4300 should be the same price as the 3900 disc. The 4300 features better cranks, rear derailleur, fork, alloy pedals, and some other goodies for the dough. I've put together alot of these bikes and can say the entry level disc brakes, aren't quite...

    Our New Wind Turbine Mast

If anyone is interested here is a link to a file for building your own wind generator out of an old motor, and using pvc tubing for the blades. I've built a couple of these that have worked quite well from old treadmill motors I have gotten from work. I've been contemplating ways, similar to...

Bike tent trailer- never heard of this

I've never seen that thing before, but Topeak had a interesting bike tent at Interbike a few years back. It stored on your handlebars when you were traveling. -Chris

Anyone remodled a four wheel camper?

The layout doesn't work well for you, being one person or a few people? If it's just you using the camper do you really need all that seating around the dining table, that could be valuable real-estate? For heating how about a simple mr. buddy propane securely fastened to the wall. What type of...

    Handheld Inspection Camera

That's not a bad idea. A 1/2" hole saw might do the trick. It's totally out of sight and would be an easy patch, nice flat section.... -Chris

    Our New Wind Turbine Mast

Does it require air pressure to stay up? If there is a small air leak does it slowly lower or is there a mechanical lock when it's extended? -Chris

    Handheld Inspection Camera

They had a demo going when I was at Home Depot a couple weeks back. I got to look around inside a maze of plumbing that looked like one of those gerbil castles. Like many tools, if you'll use it enough it will pay for itself, but I don't see myself using one that much. -Chris

    Handheld Inspection Camera

Does anyone know a place that rents one of these handheld inspection cameras? or something similar? I'm currently in San Diego. My truck has had a loose screw, guessing it's a screw, rattling around in the dash since I bought it, and I've ripped apart 1/2 my dash trying to find it a few times...

dustboy wants to build a camper...

How about your water tank? Where is your current tank located? I was thinking that would be good use for a space that is not terribly easy to access and it would keep the weight down low. This thing is great! -Chris
