I was in Skagway about a month ago, also waiting for the ferry. The whole town was pretty much shut down during the offseason, but the brewery was open(great beer and salmon sandwich). Did you find a place to camp in Skagway? We couldn't and ended up spending a couple nights in a hotel. -Chris

Dale, Your road bike most likely will be able to handle a 700 x 25c tire, possibly a 28c. I would then put something like a 26 x 1.5 on the mtb. I've done a fair amount of touring and setting people up for touring, so if you have any specific questions drop me a note. -Chris

I'd also be interested in how well those soles hold up. I got a pair from Duluth Trading this past June and have worn them almost everyday, they are ultra comfy, but the Vibram soles are totally worn smooth now. I was just about to get them resoled. The duluth's are $150 and made in Wisconsin.
