    30, HOME FREE AND UNEMPLOYED

It's most likely the infamous Tundra exhaust manifold crack. Mine ticks too, and is progressively getting worse (but still passed inspection this year) as time goes by. The easy fix is to buy a set of shorty headers. They hook up to your stock exhaust, and the pair cost less than one new...

    Toyo OPEN COUNTRY A/T II

Its the natural progression of things in this Red Bull fueled age of extremities. Same reason my favorite (currently) Cooper Discoverer ST's are the MAXX (note the use of 2 X's to denote that they are more maximum than a regular old maximum) Good luck with your new tires Bill.

    Winch, front or rear?

Yes. Since my travels are limited to weekends and the occasional weeklong vacation, and the truck is the DD to work and back grocery getter, the winch is currently a multimounted unit with extra shackles, snatch blocks,, straps and chains. Sits on a shelf in the garage for the week, and gets...

    Jeff's Cargo Conversion

Coolio! It's my understanding that the drop leg adds an additional amount (roughly 10-14 inches) of lift height to the jack (above the 10-15 inches you get from the crank), correct?

When do you learn to trust a new to you truck?

At 169,000 miles it is essentially a "newer" vehicle then the Tacoma. Drive it, enjoy it, keep up on the maintenance.

    Jeff's Cargo Conversion

Jeff, those jacks are sweet! Can you tell me the brand, or where you got them? We're wanting to add some stabilizers to the teardrop and these look like they might do the trick.

Teardrops: Adventure Trailer VS. So Cal Teardrops

That's TNTTT, Teardrops and Tiny Travel Trailers Where is one supposed to spend their time when they are camping? Where do you cook when you are camping? The teardrops are supposed to be small, easily towed and maneuverable. Essentially they are a hard-sided tent with a galley on the back...

What color should I re-paint my wheels?

Sorry, I thought your bumpers were black. I rescind my silver suggestion, and change it to black (preferentially to gloss, but flat would work too.) I change my own about once a year now. I've gone (black in) gloss, flat, hammertone and gun-metal (grey), pondering silver and white, but gloss...

Future Toyota 4x4s for the US Market

I can see the Tundra going to a 3/4 ton, the Tacoma becoming a true 1/2 ton truck, and bringing out a new 4 cylinder version of the old pre Taco Mini truck... The current Tacoma is so close to the size of a first gen Tundra that it's not even funny. They can add an inch or two of width to get a...

What color should I re-paint my wheels?

Post favorite pics of your rig and trailer

Not as cool as being in the woods, but since we were set up for the ARSES Overland Tactical Land/Water Ops Titanium Wiffleball Bat Combat Rally & Float it really didn't matter that we were in a campground. The float was awesome, the food was grand, and it's only a little creepy to open the...

    100,000 miles

photo courtesy of Mtnbike28 The truck survived another ARSES gathering! Of course since this was a float trip, all it had to do was tow the trailer to camp and lead a big bunch of ARSES through Fredericksburg.

so I started another project, Apache Raven revision #2

Cool little trailer. I like it! It's all about the three O's (organization, organization, organization). Trailers make organization a bit easier, slideouts, trays, and storage boxes, make a good thing better. In the teardrop, everything has it's place and it makes such an enjoyable weekend...
