ST Maxx or Duratrac The STMaxx probably has a tougher sidewall....it's a heavy tire, but it goes anywhere, and it's quietish. I've quite enjoyed mine. I don't have any Duratrac experience, but the Duratrac is probably the better snow tire, it has more siping than the Cooper. They're both...
We had similar comments about door height on our trailer build. The basement storage adds a lot of extra height to the whole trailer. Our door is 40" off the ground, but the running board is only 20" off the ground. It's a high step to get on the running board, but it works out al right. For...
Very jealous of your escapability, there, since I'm not a serious off-roader (or serious anything for that matter) I'd be good with camping outside my door. Our summer was really screwed up and our weekends got taken up too fast with other projects and places to be. Years past we were doing a...
Lets puzzle this out, what I see on this drawing is a line 3" below the door sill. I believe that line represents the floor of the cabin. The frontal drawing shows the floor line being 3'10" from the roof (46") subtracting a few inches for material and 4" for mattress still nets about 40" of...
Looks like a very well thought out design Matthew! I see you are going for the basement storage with outside access doors. Very handy, and it is one of the best parts of our trailer! It frees up som much room in the truck and everything we need for a basecamp can be right there at hand...
The stock springs and the 5100 set at 2-1/2" will ride better and be better for your ball joints than the stock set-up with the pucks. Ditch the pucks, get the Bilsteins.....
That's funny cause when I first did a lift I bought a used Daystar kit cheap but only installed the top puck which gave me about an inch and a half of lift and kept my 255/85s from rubbing. I put 70,000 miles set up like that. Cheap and it worked, but they didn't make adjustable Bilsteins back...
That looks like a Daystar 2-1/2" setup to me. It's made of 2 separate pucks. The Top puck (the one with the vertical goove in your picture) is 3/4" and nets about a 1-1/2" lift by itself. The second puck sits below the top plate of the coilover (preloads the coil) and gives another 1" of...
Beg to differ there, but the majority of your paint will still need good protection. A high quality wax and some work with a good buffer go a long way on your nice shiny paint. My example, here's my truck at 186,000 miles with door dings and quite a few good pinstripes (you won't see them in...
If the window had been down to start with the video would have been a lot shorter, would have saved the poor lil bear the trouble of breaking the glass. But you are right sticks, rocks and yelling go a long way to scare away a black bear....
If you are seriously thinking of a teardrop you can do what we did and plan a camping trip around a rental. If you have any reservations (is it too small? will I be claustrophobic? Is it as comfy and cool as it looks on the net?) about teardrop camping call Miller Trailer Sales in Perkasie, PA...
