Thanks everybody for the information. I feel a lot better now about it being able to be used for carrying gasoline. It does have a coating on the inside. I was concerned that gasoline may have a tendency to dissolve or degrade it in some way. Gasoline tends to have better solvent power than...
Good point shmabs. I did not think of that. I do have a picture of the can.

Verstad, I think you are right about Scepter making only plastic goods. The seller was also selling some plastic Scepter water cans and I accidentally included Scepter in my description erroneously. I will...
I recently bought what was called a used NATO jerry can that was used to carry diesel fuel. I was planning to use it for gasoline and told the seller so. He said it would be OK. I noticed some foam stuck on each side of the can and was told it was to keep the cans from rattling. When I got...
My favorite octane boosters are Toluene or Race Fuel. You have to add a more but I really don't think those octane boosters shown it that website work all that well.
I have a car that needs more than premium gas. A gallon of Toluene or Race Fuel is enough to satisfy it hunger for more octane.
I saw in one shot that you had chains on the rear. I have never had to run chains on a 4WD vehicle but always thought if I did I would put them on the front. Have you ever run them on the front? I have heard good reasons for running them on either end. Do you have a specific reason for...
The helper air bags just help with the load. If one gets damaged you can still drive the vehicle. I have damaged one before by hitting a deep pot hole at high speed with a heavy load. I was able to keep driving until I could find a place to pull over and fix the problem. I too carry a spare...
Martin, I have used Airlift bags on the rear of two different Rangers for a total time of around 25 years. They are great for towing and Overlanding. Air does need to be in them at low pressure when not loaded because they can collapse and the folding can cause damage to the bag. This is not...
Here are some more shots of the second half of the trip.

This is Luna's Jacal. Gilberto Luna is said to have lived here all his life and he lived to be 108 years old. I guess that makes him an honorary super Ol Fart. He raised many children there and apparently had many different wives...
Now that I have sorted through my pictures, I can share some of them.

This is the first good view of the Big Bend area. I don't think this is actually in the National Park.

This is a prominent landmark in the area called Nugent Mountain. I think it is still outside the National Park.

Desert pin strips are the norm on most off-road trips I take. I still haven't rubbed out the ones from my last trip yet but hope to do it before my next trip in November. Are you saying the bed liner you put on the fender flares did not hold up well with the brush attacks?
I have 31" LTX M/S tires for pavement. I have never air them down because they never see anything much worse than graded gravel roads occasionally. I have taken them off-road on my family's farm in Kansas a few times and they do well if it is dry but the couple times I got into mud with them I...
I am curious also to see how it holds up. I like the appearance and would like to do something like that with my fender flares. For now, I think I am just going to use a good black dye to cover up the faded surface.
It ended up taking six weeks instead of two to get it painted. Then my dad died and I had to go back to Kansas to be with my family. So, nothing has been done on the shell after picking it up from the paint shop but I plan to start this coming weekend. That reminds me I need to order some...
I agree, the biggest issue is the clearance at the transfer case skid. I have bumped it lightly a couple times. That happened with 32" tires. It has not happened with 33" tires yet but I am sure it will happen sometime again now that I know I have more clearance. I have not contacted the...
That's interesting Ace. I saw a post somewhere from someone that came down that trail about the same time we were trying to go up it. He ended up with a lot of body damage to his vehicle. That doesn't sound easy or he got off on the wrong trail like we did a couple times. Maybe he just could...
I don't have any good close ups but here are a couple of it in use. If you click on them you can zoom in to get a closer look.

You can still find used ones around but it is hard to find one in good condition.
