    LR4 Suspension Fault

The IID tool is locked to one vin. However, you can do basic fault clearing, testing and such on ANY modern LR. Mine is locked to my 05 D3. I've read a 02 L322, 3 mates D3's and a D4 with it. I can check codes, clear them, check basic values of injectors, compressors, temperatures, etc.

The DiscoDavis Discovery 3 Build Thread

On the diffs and stuff. I didn't have the upgraded breather on mine till a couple of years ago, I never knew of it and it was said 3 owning mate that give me it. There are 3 diffs for the D3/LR3. Diesel manual, diesel auto, v8 petrol auto, this is for the uk market. They have different ratios...

The DiscoDavis Discovery 3 Build Thread

The diff oil is interesting. I did mine at 120k, the service book showed no record of it being changed, but the brake fluid and coolant had been. At a main dealer so I can only imagine the cost of that... My oil from both doffs came out golden and smelling fresh, I could have poured it back in...

The DiscoDavis Discovery 3 Build Thread

I do like a build thread. I've got one of my own car on another forum, could always make one myself as there is a fair bit on it. Shall watch this with interest on how you get on with it.

    Land Rover Buying Advice Wanted

I got one for £55. Took about 10 minutes to fit it. The wiring is already in place so you just pulled the back of the console up, unscrew the lid and pull out the old cubby box. Given its winter still I've not had a chance to try it out but it lived in my friends 3 for the 3 years he owned it...

2 things: LR3 Traction control weirdness and aux light question

My uppers were changed at 117k. The hub bushes at 134k. There is no logic for when they need done. A friends was still on the originals when he traded it in for a D4 at 133k. He was also still on original front lowers and they had zero play or sound from them. I fitted Range Rover sport...

Anyone have a high mileage LR3?

Both frame and body on mine has minimal surface rust showing. The frame is very strong and unlike the D1/2 they don't rot away in front of you. To keep it good, mine will at the end of summer be going in to get stripped down, arch liners etc removed and dinitrol applied to seal it once the...

Anyone have a high mileage LR3?

146k on mine. All wish bones changed, 4 arbs, drop links, steering inner arms ans track rod ends, rear propshaft, compressor, starter motor, ac condenser, 2 cv joints due to split rubbers and the suspension compressor. Had the rear brake pipes changed as they corrode in our horrible climate...

    2006 LR3 Faults - Where to start?

Mine has random error codes that won't go away regardless of what you do. Early 05 year build car. The car runs fine, the electric side is healthy and showing correct voltage for running, starting etc. It's the "ghost in the machine" codes. Clear and ignore.

    Land Rover LR3 RR

Engine could be poor fuel or the oil filter being wrongly fitted. There have been a few tdv6 engines that have died because of that. Springs are likely due to weight, the 3 is a heavy car at 2.7 tons stock before adding kit to it. I've never been in a coil model as they are pretty rare in the...

2 things: LR3 Traction control weirdness and aux light question

Are the rear upper arms and rear hub bushes the original ones? If so what mileage is the car on? Mine used to throw the light on when taking a left corner, turned out my upper arm bushes were shot and so were the hub bushes. Also, when did you last get an alignment done?

    LR3 Underbody protection. i've bagged a bargain.

Leaks? My car doesn't leak out. ;) It may leak some water in if i park it nose down on the driveway in heavy rain but that's different.... I have an oil extraction pump that i can use to do oil changes. I change it every 10k anyway so it doesn't gunk up. If i can't be bothered with that, i'll...

LR3 / LR4 buying guide and maintenance tips

I have and will continue to question the $3000 figure for the hand brake, it's a £330 part to buy, there is no way it costs £1200 to fit it. That's bull**** on so many levels it would make a politician embarrassed. The hand brake should be stripped, cleaned and adjusted at every service. It's...

    LR3 Underbody protection. i've bagged a bargain.

It's here. Should be fun fitting it all. Black pole frame goes first, which helps support the centre plate, then sump and diff guard. Fitting it all next weekend as i have a long weekend work shift coming up.

So. Arizona is full. Port Oregon is also not full of land rovers and is to be avoided at all costs. Got it.

    Would you ship it?

Mine is a diesel. Joy's of living in the UK. We get the diesel engine and with the freshen up mine is due to get, it will run happily for many more years to come. Plus i don't need to ship a defender home as the damn things are everywhere here, can pick them up from £1000 for something needing...

    Would you ship it?

The car would be coming in under a carnet agreement. It would not be staying in Aus and I wouldn't either. It would be having a holiday away from the rain and wind of the U.K. There is one stumbling block. The only UK company to issue Carnet permits has stopped issuing them as of the 31st...
