    Discovery 3 tdv6 build

I took very few pictures of the snorkel fitting. I'll be very honest on that. Was too busy swearing at it and wondering why I had started it. Plus wondering how much a 05 Zambezi wing would cost to fit. However, that's an update for an another day. ;) Plenty of other stuff to deal with...

    Discovery 3 tdv6 build

Next mods. Through the land of Ebay, i found, bidded and after much self debating over the price. I won a set of Terrafirma Rock and tree sliders for the car. These fit both D3/4 so will be good to sell on at some point when i change. These got fitted at a mates house, who also has a nice 2...

    Discovery 3 tdv6 build

The rear uppers had half an inch of play in the bushes when I changed them. So was a wear and tear thing. The rear lowers had some wear but since I was given everything an overhaul I changed them for peace of mind.

    Discovery 3 tdv6 build

Part 3. Maintenance, tweaks and competitions. The Disco's first mot under my ownership was looming, for those not sure of what that is. It's an annual test of a car when it hits 3 years old. They check emissions, brakes, suspension, tyres, steering, lights, seatbelts, make sure no warning...

Are Non-Genuine OE Lower Control Arms Acceptable?

Sorry, should have been clearer. Yes. All makes is an after market maker of parts. For the 37-35mm. The larger ball joint is in the RRS arm, the thread is the same size for inserting into the D3 hub. I bought replacement arms, not separate bushes and ball joint. I removed the old arm and...

Are Non-Genuine OE Lower Control Arms Acceptable?

I've only seen 1 lower control arm snap and pull the driveshaft with it, that was with replacement bushes in it. The RRS arm is a better bush design but also a slightly larger ball joint, 37mm over the 35mm in the 3. I had "all makes" arms on my 3 to replace the worn originals, they lasted...

Any issues with Britpart D3/LR3 rear driveshaft/propshaft?

Welcome to Britparts quality control. They are known as ****part for a good reason. Return it and buy from somewhere else. Or try your local dealer and haggle on the price. It's what I do and I can get up to 25% off if I pester them enough.

    Discovery 3 tdv6 build

Part 2. Armed with my Disco, i wanted to use this off road. To see how good it was and to show that a comfy well specced car can be used off road but still retain the road manners and comfort it has. I got it on the Wednesday, the drive home was 200 miles, which is nothing for you US folk, but...

    Discovery 3 tdv6 build

Been reading other build threads on LR3's so thought i would make up my own about the changes and mods of my own, plus the plans for the future for it. Brief history. I've wanted a Land Rover for years, my first meet with one was in 94 when i was on a family holiday, in the car park was a new...

    LR3/4 Steering Vibration issue

Also, steering inner arms, that go from the track rod end to the rack can wear, check the inner joint for play. Done them on mine, along with the rod ends and the lower column in mine.

    LR3/4 Steering Vibration issue

For the stiffness. The steering lower column is known to go stiff with age and mileage. It can also cause a knocking noise as it wears. I would have that checked as that could be possibly to blame.

The DiscoDavis Discovery 3 Build Thread

The alternator can be a weak point due to its location lower down in the engine bay. The other thing is that an alternator is a known wear point and they have a habit of limping on for a while before dying randomly. My own cars had one changed before I bought it at 8 years old. My mates car was...

    D3/LR3 seat covers?

Are they 5 seat or 7 seat with arm rests?

Looking at LR3s to downside my wife's suburban. The ones in my price range at the

Front lowers and rear upper arms go with age. That will depend on it's life. I've seen an 06 with original arms at 133k, no noise from them. Mine were shot at 98k. Front wheel bearings go as well. About 100k or so. Transmissions need the oil changed every 50-75k, it HAS to be a certain spec of...

LR3/Discovery 3 off road traction control video

As said. Keep throttle steady, you need to work with the car and the systems. Also, turn DSC OFF! Helps a lot in keeping power to the wheels when the car wants to reign it in.

    D3/LR3 seat covers?

I like the look of those covers and the exchange rate to pounds is pretty good as well. Is that the charcoal colour ones?

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

Exactly. A good set of pads and discs all round wouldn't make much difference between them. It's only 1 inch bigger disc. The pads are the same and the calipers are the same. Is an inch that important to you? ( there is an innuendo in there somewhere haha )

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

Weights from the Discovery 3 brochure ( my boss gave me it and I kept it ) are. EEC total kerb weights. Tdv6 auto is 2,718. V8 is 2,704 Distribution of kerb weight at front axel max, tdv6 is 1,302kg. V8 is 1,280kg. Distribution of kerb weight at rear axel max, tdv6 is 1,416kg. V8 is 1,424kg...

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

You need the tdv6 brakes. Make sure you get a good disc and pad set up and you will also need the tdv6 calliper carriers. It's a popular mod for us with tdv6 brakes to "upgrade" to the v8 set up as the disc is 1 inch larger. Pads are the same size but you need to swap carriers to allow the...
