    Vehicle donors for trailer axle (5 x 4.5" BP & 60-65"W)

ABC has very good pricing on Axles. They also have 3500 pound axles, just go to the home page. He linked to the 2k page, but they have much more than that. They will work just fine, and be a lot easier that adapting a car axle. I was going to get my axle from them before the Dexter popped up on...

    OBA Tanks

I use a small/compact fixed regulator at 150 psi. It has no gauges, or adjustments, and work great for me. I like that it doesnt have a lot of stuff to knocked around hanging off of it. I do wish it had a high pressure gauge so I could more easily tell when its getting empty. I wouldnt go...

What leaf springs are you guys using?

A lot of guys seem to like the Suzuki Samurai springs, as well as certain jeep springs, CJ fronts, or YJ fronts. You can add and remove leafs to 'tune' the amount of stiffness or hight you get out of them. ~ James

    SAR_Squid79's Expedtion Trailer Build

I store my boots/shoes in a mesh bag intended for dish washing (I think they are made by coleman??) But storage is something I can deal with. You mentioned putting shoes on, and taking them off. THIS is the problem I have. Not a problem really, more of a pain the rear to do it in the...

You just gotta let me borrow it for a day... If Martyn reads this, I am JUST making one for myself. No intentions of profiting.... Its an awesome design, to which I feel the need to copy... Isnt there a saying about imitation being the highest level of flattery... or something to that effect...

    Dexter Axles: Input needed, please

All good points. In reality, I have no idea what mine weighs. I know for a fact the sheet metal alone was exactly 500 pounds. But the frame is not as 'beefily' (my word for the day) boxed as some of the trailers I see. It was already built, and worked just fine as an enclosed utility trailer, so...

    Post your Camp Awnings

I have certainly done the tarp and tent poles. Nothing wrong with that at all... At the 2006 neurburgring Formula one race: Then we graduated to an 8 foot camping labs style on my truck, Then it moved to the Jeep, Finally, on the trailer. its been around and well used, but it still...

    Dexter Axles: Input needed, please

Not sure, maybe your rubber springs are worn out or mine were defective. I just know they sucked. I dont know how else to put it. If your trailer weighs 1800 pounds (crap thats heavy...) it probably does ride much better than a trailer with the same axle, but half the weight. Like I mentioned...

    Dexter Axles: Input needed, please

I have to agree with Martyn on this. I took off my Dexter 3500 torsion axle, and gladly got rid of it. That thing was like the axle was welded directly to the fram with no suspension. The only time that trailer ever road *somewhat* well was when I had close to 2 tons in it. That RARELY ever...

    OBA Tanks

Eric, what were the demensions on them? I know you could use them for air tanks, like with a compressor.... :) Regulator would be no problem. And if I remember right from my biomed days, they are pretty narrow. That might just fit under the floor board of say.... an XJ. ~ James

    XJ or TJ

I have an XJ, and love it, but here is my thinking. XJ's are a dime a dozen compared to TJ's. You can always find another XJ easily and cheaply later on if you decide you want another one. ~James
