Questions for the TundraBirds on 04-06 DC Trucks?

You should do a quick read on this TS VIN thread, nutshell: take your VIN to a dealer and they can printout what options are on your truck. Maybe LSD was an option on DCs, and my info was incorrect....you know how accurate internet knowledge is....

Can't make up my mind in tires....

The Cooper ST Maxx is an aggressive all terrain, but they are highly civilized on the road. I love my set so far, I'll let you know if my opinion changes after our beach trip this week. . I don't think you'd go wrong with the Maxx's or the Fun Country II's (or the original ST, or the Duratracs)...

Questions for the TundraBirds on 04-06 DC Trucks?

I recommend 1st gen Tundras to anyone that asks. Mine is at 170,000 trouble free miles. Well, except fot the 4 O2 sensors I've changed, and the usual tires, gas and oil maintenance stuff. . I use the Mothers Back to Black on my trim and tonneau cover, they both turn grey over time. The paint...

    Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx

Well since I know the front of my truck weighs less than 4260 lbs, I'm pretty sure 35psi is overkill. Too bad the charts don't go down to 15 psi, that would be nice. I need to get somewhere and air down some just to see if and how much flex there is in that sidewall....

    Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx

Try dropping them down to 30 or 32 for a while. That E range tire can carry the weight of your vehicle easily at a lower pressure. Play around with it a while and you should find a pressure that works well for a good ride, decent mileage and a good wear pattern. I think paying close...

    Camping shower advice.

We've used the Triton (which I think is a rebadged Ecotemp) for a couple of seasons now and it's great. With a 21 gallon tank and a 12v pump it's miles ahead of the Zodi we had. The only issues we've had: 1)the shower head is fiddly to turn on/off (I'd like to change that to a regular...

    How important is color?

Being a member of a select group of people, I'd like to add: 1)the dirt thing isn't that bad, unless your particular vehicle is the same color as the dirt you live around it's going to show... B) when that black vehicle is cleaned and waxed it looks awesome! and you don't need welding...

    Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx

Common in the sense that Murphy's Law takes effect every time you drive. I've only really ruined one tire - on the freeway, at that. I've seen several others that have various bits of road debris destroy sidewalls and/or treads. . It's not common enough for me to worry about right now, but my...

    Free Standing Screen Room reviews

We use a FirstUp Gazebo from WalMart. It's less than $100 and you can buy either the wind curtain (opaque fabric walls) or the screen room walls for it. Either of those is $35 dollars. It's easy to set up and take down, the portableness of it you'll have to decide for yourself.

    !!!! Attention tundra owners!!! Rocksliders

looks good. Those are bolt-on? If so, how do they bolt up? ie, do they use existing frame holes or do you have to drill your own. and do they use equal sized backing plates on the backside of the frame?

    Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx

That's my personal feeling also, and a major factor in switching to a 285. . With our future plans involving a much wider range of travel I felt the need for a tire size that I could get anywhere, anytime. (note I said tire size not tire) If something nasty were to happen to one of my tires, I...

    Max-Couplers

How long will this price last? We're waiting (impatiently) on a quote for a trailer frame and if it's a fair price we'll need to send one to them.

    Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx

OK, so I had the Maxx's put on with 163,220 on the odometer. Today, I'm at 169,700. That's, hmm, let's see, 6480 miles. My depth gauge today read just a hair (hare?, rabbit?) over 17/32. The original tread depth (according to Coopers website) is 18.5/32 (my gauge read about 19/32). If I go...

    05+ Tacoma Dual Battery Location

CLynn, since you already have a big battery up front have you thought about just putting another big battery somewhere in the camper to run it's power? You can easily run a charge line to it (the bigger the better, with a fuse of course) through a simple relay that powers on with the ignition...

Tips for changing rear first gen Tundra shocks - hard earned

Twitch, sorry you had so much trouble with the fronts, mine have never been that bothersome. I've done the fronts 5 times now on two different trucks and the last time I did the fronts in under 2 hours including aftermath cleanup. . The rear shocks are another story, my fat hands couldn't...

    !!!! Attention tundra owners!!! Rocksliders

Those are looking very good. I like how they tuck close to the body. I know real wheelers will argue that they don't protect the sides as well, but that's OK by me. . How long is that outer runner (with kickout) on the two styles (flared truck vs non-flared truck). I've got 85 inches between...
