    Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx

Back when I managed tire shops it was amazing what all we found inside or stuck in tires. Made no difference in the type of tire or ply rating . Everything from horseshoes, 1/2 inch wrench, screwdrivers, various bones, sticks, screws, nails, end of broom handle and the list went on and on.

looking to get back into a jeep looking at kj and wj

Agree with above with 4 people and a dog , WK would give you more room for everyone plus whatever else you take along. 4 people in my KJ is enough so that everyone has room, 5 is tight ( or 4 and a dog ) With that said, I'd never own a WK .

    cobra_4's 2011 Liberty KK Build/Trip Log Thread

I see you have been on LOST etc so you have the right place to look up what works and what doesn't as far as well built lifts and ones that will last thousands of miles instead of a few months. ( think it was LOST moderator on there and JeepKJ so one of them LOL ) Keep reading but you are on...

    mini overland project! coming soon!

I didn't have bad luck, someone else who I knew and did not listen to my advice did, then had to replace a lot of worn parts . I lift everyone I do the right way, no short cuts/ never cheap out. Have done it that way since I lifted my first Jeep back in 1974 and have never had an issue since on...

    mini overland project! coming soon!

Doesn't matter where it goes, its still a spacer lift, with that comes issues. RRO rips off others and advertises it as their own. If you can't afford to buy a full lift from Stu I'd stay stock I have a pair of the RRO OTT spacers that completely destroyed the UBJ etc on a KJ , I've kept them...

More proof that Jeep is the leader in 4x4 overland vehicles

To lift or not to lift...

A good quality lift will give you a great ride, cheap lift, lousy rough ride Not all lifts are made the same

To lift or not to lift...

With 110,000 miles I would not just add one of those add a leaf to the rear. You'll find that with the springs already sagging that add a leaf won't ride nearly as good a full set of springs. Tried to tell one of my buddys the same thing, he went with the cheaper alternative, 2 months later he...

To lift or not to lift...

I guess I look at things differently than some on here with suggestions of spacer lifts etc Your XJ is now almost 20 years old, springs and shocks are weak and springs are sagging . After building 3 XJs I know after 60-70,000 miles mine were past upgrading. ( Actually two of them I upgraded...

    treadwright guard dogs

Buddy of mine had one set that lasted for about 10,000 miles before two had tread separations within 2 weeks time. They made it right but he ended up waiting on new tires for over 2 weeks while they made some and shipped them He then had one of the new replacements go bad ( same thing) so he...

    narrowed down to 3 tires

I used to run BFGs back in the late 70s early 80s, tried them again a few years ago and after 10,000 sold them quickly, hated them and couldn't go anywhere, snow had to run 4 wheel drive all the time Went with the Duratracs ( 265-75-16s) installed with 129,000 on it, now at 205,000 still on and...

More proof that Jeep is the leader in 4x4 overland vehicles

I can only report on Tanzania but if you see a Jeep over there its rare. They have one dealership which I always stop in, but just from talking to them getting parts would be hard. Thats the reason we own a Toyota there, can get any part you need with in a day no matter where you are in the...

more evidence that the Wrangler may be in for a change

Around Toledo/ (and down in Central Ohio) all you see driving them are Soccer Moms with larger tires ( on the ground and the stock spare hanging off the rear) Not sure where you don't see that at

First impressions of bfg at kos.

I was in the tire business ( sales, managed tire shops, had my own place) back in the late 70s up into the 90s BFG ATs were pretty much the go to tire, I sold the crap out of them, ran them on my own junk. Then issues started with them, bad tires wouldn't balance, tread separations etc. We were...

What the 15" equivalent to the 235/85/16?

Bottom line, is going to that size tire worth it in a 2 wheel drive when figuring in the amount of lift needed plus regearing it as well

2003 KJ Limited Build in Progress

I've got the RL bumper with the hitch built in so higher than normal hitch. I have to run a 6 inch drop I got from Harbor Freight that's longer than normal . With the trailer shown I can open the back gate with no issues . With my 6 X 10 enclosed the jack is in the way . I'll see if I have a...

2003 KJ Limited Build in Progress

Yes its spring over now, plus 3500 lb axle so bearings are large enough to run the tires Here is a 3-4 year old photo right before I painted it last time. I built this originally back in 95 . Lots of changes from looking at that photo, before I had the tire and gas can swing outs etc on the RL...

2003 KJ Limited Build in Progress

That should make you a nice little trailer But you'll need bigger tires, I'm running 265-70-16s on mine now, looking to go bigger :Wow1::)

    Hood louvers

I've ran Pontiac GTP hood louvers on 2 Jeep XJs and now the KJ I have. They used to be 10-15 bucks a pair, now people want 75-100 bucks for them They do work great though
