    Blazer Chalet on Ebay

It's serial #0983, pic below, owned by one of the guys in our Yahoo chalet owners' forum. He bought a different one, so two's a crowd for him. Tough economic times have put so many of these on the market (50+ at the moment), I thought it would be too much for me to be piling these into various...

    C&O Towpath

Now that you mention it, I could have noted that prior to our ride down & back on the GAP, we spent the morning at the nearby Kentuck Knob, one of Wright's other famous homes. Pic below of the area beyond the home. Being born & raised in the desert southwest, I'm always amazed by the trees and...

    C&O Towpath

On a different visit with my brother, we checked out some of the C&O towpath below Cumberland. I believe I saw a brochure that showed the big number of campsites, some are accessible from nearby roads, others are strictly hiker/biker camps. Very impressive system. Alas, I'll need sizable...

    C&O Towpath

If the stretch between Ohiopyle and Confluence is any indication of what the rest of the trail is like, I put a five-star rating on it! When my brother lived near that area, I flew up there for a visit. We drove to Ohiopyle, he brought his bike and I rented one in that town. It was a marvelous...

    Message in the Waves............

Been a recycler for 2+ decades, my latest 'dumpster diver score' was a pair of perfectly usable plastic lamps. I've heard about this problem, but after a quick Google image search, all I see are beach photos of trash and some close-ups of floating plastic. The biggest pile I saw was about the...

    Anyone running a Bronco?

I run across Broncos with aftermarket campers reasonably often. Tonight, however, I stumbled across this a short time ago - for those of you liking the old Bronco IIs, but wished they were a tad bigger, how 'bout the "Bronco II PLUS"? An aftermarket conversion, some info here, and an owner here.

Someone please buy this and put a camper on it

Somebody has 'been there, done that' with this Ford. Elsewhere on the internet I've seen this same one or a Ford just like it where you can see the full side view, but I can't find it now....

    Panoramic Shots

This would be greater fun if viewed in 3D. From about 8 weeks ago, it's the foot-traffic only road between McIntyre & Spirit Gulches, opposite Red Mtn #1, 2 & 3, in the Colorado San Juans. Fall forward, and ya basically don't stop until you reach the green stuff at the bottom of the ravine.

Post your "burbs" for my brother Paul

Somewhere in Fargo ND, there might still be what you see here - a guy went to elaborate measures to graft a Chalet shell on a '79 'burb. Despite numerous calls and email replies to his Craigslist and Kijiji ads, no response from the seller was received by me or others.....

    The custom matching trailers concept

Variation on the theme, when an actual manufacturer makes their trailer look like an existing vehicle, a '53 Ford wagon in this case. Rummage through the photos at the links - its roof is an upside down boat.

    Blazer Chalet

Serial #0423, built 7/76. If the ad expires again, anyone can PM me for the seller's regular email address. And if you are wondering what all those stickers are on the back, I discovered this mountain climbers' forum link a few days ago that has a closeup photo of them all.

    $60,000 to spend?

Want your camper medium or rare? Chalets & Casa Grandes are under $10 grand for the top end so far, the latest eBay one went for $9,900, beating the previous sale to a non-dealer record by a few hundred dollars. Put a little more money into one at that level to make it 'perfect', and you still...

How all do you carry your bikes......

Cheapo Thule generic for hatchbacks. Works great after using two bits of packaging tape to secure the lower hooks to the hatch. (1977-era Raleigh 5-speed, needs a couple of lower gears...)

VW Golf "County"??? (and other oddballs)

On the 'coolness' factor, I used to look at the VWVortex.com forum, and there were occasionally guys who were willing to kill to get their hands on one in the US - that's where I hope to be proven wrong about the relative ease of importing one. Judging from what the importer told me, if you saw...

VW Golf "County"??? (and other oddballs)

As an '86 GTI owner, I thought it might be neat to snag one of the random Golf Countrys that pop up occasionally in Canadian eBay listings. But, I took a decent length of time to check out how a non-US car is imported, including a phone call to one of the Fed-authorized importers - research it...

Porphyry Gulch to the Bullion King Lake, San Juan Mtns of Colorado July 2009

Thanks, not too shabby for a $150 camera, but it would have been really fun to capture the sheer beauty of the nice fluffy clouds, too. There were at least two pro photographers there with seriously expensive tripods and long lenses who were no doubt taking million dollar shots. The road didn't...

Porphyry Gulch to the Bullion King Lake, San Juan Mtns of Colorado July 2009

Pt II: The back of the bowl where the road is. Nice waterfall in the lower center, and a view of the road across the valley where my 2006 photo was taken. To get to the area in the upper right (where there is a dark colored Nissan pickup, and the red van further up and a bit to the left of...

Porphyry Gulch to the Bullion King Lake, San Juan Mtns of Colorado July 2009

Somebody with a yellow greasepencil wanted to tell us something here. There's four "very"s in the black border at the top.... As promised over in this other thread where I borrowed an internet photo - first, a two-photo panorama taken in 2006 from across the valley, when I was on the...
