Stumptaco's has gone over to the darkside..XJ style.

Someone asked me if the passenger seat still moved forward... yep, it still does. I countersunk/drilled two dimples in the rod. Each dimple is a locking point for the mount, one for the driver position, and one for the passenger position. Drivers position: Passenger position: View...

Stumptaco's has gone over to the darkside..XJ style.

Alrighty, I got around to finishing up the laptop mount today. After driving around with the mount as it was, I realized it was a little shakey front to back. The way the mount is traingulated, its very solid from left to right, but not much to stabilize it front to back. So, I welded on a...

Thanks everyone, still need to do a little tweaking, but the mount works very well. Crossbike, I didnt take a pictures of it, but on the backside there is a peice of 3/16th steel plate that runs from top to bottom, and a standoff/solid rod that I turned down in the lathe to fit into the tube...

And it begins. Stump XJ's trailer build.

The RTT I have now will go on it for a while. Its plenty big enough for us at this point. The portable privy will have to work for a changing shelter. I may re-group on my kitchen set-up, I might make something more integrated like a slide out, but then I would loose the ability to use this...

And it begins. Stump XJ's trailer build.

Yeah, i'll be honest. It was HARD to completely destroy a perfectly good enclosed trailer. But the floor needed to be replaced due to a little rot, and I wasnt using it for anything. I also needed a more open type utility trailer for random chores around the house. I really dont have room to...

And it begins. Stump XJ's trailer build.

I left the rear stock post on the trailer as they are a very stout piece and will tie in nicely with my plan. I will tie in the framing with these post, and will have a tailgate that will go where the old rear doors would have normally gone. It will be recessed nicely. this material is 3/16...

And it begins. Stump XJ's trailer build.

Alrighty. This started about 4 months ago when we moved back to the states. I have been wanting to build a trailer for camping/expo travel/and untility service for quite a while. I had a 1999 5x8 enclosed trailer that I used for my old R/C boat business a few years ago. It was no longber being...

    the BIG jeep

They did a decent stretch job I guess... but it seems like a waste to me. I think if it were to get into a nice flex position, there would be a few stress cracks...:D ~James

    ExPo Garages: Lets see them!

Yes, it was quite the project, but it turned out well. With the two new 16 x 4 LVL's on each side, its much stronger than it was. I put two coats of the epoxy on the floor, and it looked great in the beginning. I have done plenty of welding and grinding in there, without much problem with the...

LOL... No, its just a red stripe. Was not aware of the Feng Shui thing, and here I just thought it was relaxing to be out in the shop because of the beer. Interesting. :victory: ~James

    ExPo Garages: Lets see them!

I have been working on my new garage for about 4 months now since I hav been unemplyed after the move back stateside. Got a lot done to it, but still a little ways to go. I raised the celing height to 13 feet to accommodate a 2 post lift, and it should be installed by the first of the year...

    Insurance...

Ive got just liability & unisured motorist on both of mine as well, they are just to cheap and easy to replace if in an accident to justify cost of full coverage. The only thing I am slightly concerned about is theft or something like that, but there are a few 'deterrents' built into my wheeler...

    Tire Deflation...

Never mind... I just saw a picture of Stauns, and I think its safe to say the Smitty's and Stauns are certainly very similar, but not identical. Hmmm... Smitty's are much 'cheaper' ~James Staun Smittybilt
