So now I own two Gen 3's

Hold it for a second and light should appear on dash telling you its disabled. Nice looking rig! And sounds like it worked out for you!

1997 Pajero Evolution (Old Betsy VII)

So upon getting her home, the first job was to fix the squealing belts. I picked up the three accessory belts and then installed them, after checking for normal tensioner/pulley operation. I then gave her a good once over. Underneath, everything looks really good. No rust, susp is in good...

1997 Pajero Evolution (Old Betsy VII)

She's home, and fabulous. Better than I hoped. I will probably continue this thread to chronicle the "build". Although it won't be a build so much as just maintaining it... I don't think there's much I can do to improve what mitsu's finest did back in the day, beyond some modern conveniences...?

1997 Pajero Evolution (Old Betsy VII)

Inspection went very well. No deficiencies at all. The only issue it had noted was a squealing fanbelt. I'll replace it of course but maybe I'll tighten the bracket for the two hour drive home. I'm now fully registered, have insurance, just need to drive up tomorrow night after work and get it...

1997 Pajero Evolution (Old Betsy VII)

Getting close now... Arrived at my importers shop today and now awaiting inspection. If all goes well then I hope to pick it up on the weekend! (It's only 2 hours away from me now). I think it's gonna be a long week. And it's already Tuesday!

Hmmm. It was a conversion. Wonder what kind of job they did? The pics look good! Still, I kind of prefer it original. Although the stick would've been sweet.

Gen 3 - Bottle jack no longer tall enough

Good to know! Thanks for sharing. You wouldn't think that the 75's would be enough difference to matter eh? I better throw some wood blocks in there, just in case. Cheers for the heads up! Phil

I got a boatload more pics before it left Japan. It is now off the coast of WA somewhere, stopping briefly in Tacoma before landing in New Westminster, near Vancouver, BC. I'm hoping to have it trucked inland over the Rockies to me before the end of the month. Here are a few better pics...

    New Pajero Just Came In

The officially imported UK version was the Shogun, but they have a very active gray market for imported JDM's over there, and there are MANY Pajero's on the road as well. Maybe more than the "official" Shogun? (one of our UK members will likely chime in at some point) That one looks to be in...

Does GEN III 3.8 uses 93 premium gas grade

Not sure that's a risk I'm going to pay to minimize. If my old knock sensor goes out the ecu will let me know. I did try premium a few times pulling the trailer but my seat of the pants dyno and my mpg saw no effects plus or minus. This can also be altitude dependent too of course. My 87 (at...

The build of Abigail. 1996 Montero SR

Way to go Joe. Looks like a great base to start from. Welcome back! How long since your last Monty?

Which wheel set is on your 05 now? Silver six spoke? How about painting them black?

1997 Pajero Evolution (Old Betsy VII)

Thanks for the props fellas. Its an auto - I've seen a single 5 speed in all the time I've been watching for one, and it ultimately sold for stacks of cash. I did bid on it, but my bid was significantly lower than what it fetched. :( I'll have to suffer with the 5 speed tiptronic version...

1997 Pajero Evolution (Old Betsy VII)

Finally found my dream machine two days ago after a long time looking. If you're on our FB montero group this will be a repeat for you... sorry about that. But for others... I only have a couple of crappy auction pics so far, but some details... basically the deficiencies it has, of which there...

    Gen3 wheels on a gen2.5... with modifications?

Very helpful guys. Thanks! I actually found my new truck yesterday. But that requires a new thread. ;)

If you're not getting new rotors have the old ones turned at a machine shop. New pads at all four corners will help of course. New fluid is a good idea along with a thorough bleed. I'm assuming you have rear discs too, not drums? Looks like a great rig! I loved my gen1's.

    2001 XLS with 140K

I like being able to start in second in the snow. The extra gear is great when towing my trailer. But the 03+ also gets one of the best traction control systems available imho, which makes an 03+ worth it, all on its own. OP...did you say the timing belt had NEVER been changed? At 140k miles...

    Gen3 wheels on a gen2.5... with modifications?

So many of the Paj-Evos I've been bidding on have aftermarket wheels. This sucks IMHO because I really like the look of the OE O-Z wheels... but if the truck checked out otherwise, sometimes you've gotta take what you can get right? Anyways I came across a pic of this rare red paj-evo with what...

Anyone have their gen2 triple meter out of the dash at the moment and can take a pic?

Thanks guys. I don't think this is going to keep me away from this rig. The price might though. We shall see. There's another one that comes up before it that I'm still waiting on a translation for. Fingers crossed...
