I am under 6' and the exact measurement was 5' 1.5" for the tent area. Since I am using the ARB tent with the overhang on the ladder, I can stand up there and that is 55" wide and about 3' extending. The ladder is somewhat in the way but I can still move around in this area without too much...
Yeah I had quite a bit of surface rust on the frame and some pitting but once I blasted it and coated it, the frame looks great. These things are pretty good considering their age.
Welcome to the Obsession!!!
I too have a CJ and have been working on my M416 for a couple of years now. I have had the same questions and am not sure what the right answers are but here is a link to my build.

Thanks to a friendly reminder from Razorback I am posting some info on my HF box that I am using for my power source. When I bought the box the intent was always to put a battery in here and use it to power all of the gadgets we seem to "must have" these days.
Here are a few pictures of the...
I have watched your build with interest as I would like to figure out a way to lift the tent once I get onsite and use a full annex room. The ones I was speaking of were where it is lifted all of the time. It seems to work for many but it makes me nervous. My only choice was going the way you...
Just wanted to update my trailer work. When I bought my RTT I also bought the annex and it has just been sitting around due to it being too long. As you can see in the photo, even on my sloping driveway the annex is too long and the door opening is on the ground. I believe the room is...
I agree with 95RRC. You will have to use a box besides the "official M416 box" from harbor freight since your will have to open to the front like the trailer sidemount boxes that some of the guys use.
I vote green. Tan and green just say "outdoors".
A looong time ago when we "weren't" bombing Thailand, I lived on Guam. Nice place for short visit!!!
Stay safe and send pictures when you get back to work on it.
Welcome to the M416 world. Just like the jeeps, the project never ends and the money keeps disappearing.
All that being said, there are some great ideas on here that cost very little money, just labor.
Post lots of pictures so we can "borrow" any good ideas you come up with.
I had seen one there as well and was thinking of using one on the side of the trailer for mounting items while stationary. Sometimes I get to an area that is not all that level and figured I could use one for a small table, ARB frig stand, etc. Then just take it off and throw it in the trailer...
Lid looks great. Have you tested on trailer to see how square the trailer is to the lid. My trailer looked good but lid was perfectly square and trailer was not.
Good pictures of the toolbox mount. I never took pictures before I mounted mine so I may steal your photos.
I like the milk crates. I have three and they are almost a perfect fit if you put them from left to right. They hold all of my loose stuff.
You going to go with an external bracket...
