    Dual Batteries in an Outback

Not much room in the engine bay. Search for the "Superu" thread, that owner used the National Luna battery box system and seemed very happy with it.

    RK's MANi-Van - UP FOR SALE

Also, if you pooch the first one, there's a spare bracket not doing anything on the passenger side. :Wow1:

    RK's MANi-Van - UP FOR SALE

One tip I saw on ASV that I plan to use when/if I swap MY fuel pump: Lengthen the fuel lines, etc. so that you can drop the tank without disconnecting everything first - especially so since your van (like mine) is lifted.

Two Libra's Tiger XL - Glamping continued....

Eeek! Which Astro forum(s) do you frequent? I'd hate to think the astrosafarivans.org guys wouldn't have answered this one.

    Cheap Fridge <$400 shipped

Refer back to my data from post 713, which is, as far as I know, the most accurate sample done to date on these fridges: I will be running another test in a hot car soon, so more data to come - but I will say that after a half-dozen trips with the fridge, my "real world" consumption is pretty...

Two Libra's Tiger XL - Glamping continued....

Yeah, I think ihatemybike has it nailed. It's a weird hybrid if you aren't sure what you're looking at. The six 2" pucks for the front sub-frame are "Standard Kit" for the Astro world and work great to get you tire clearance without any real negative penalty. Bonus: Extra space above the...

    Fold up Cutting Board

I have (and love) the Coleman segmented cutting board. I like that I can use it as one big board or split it up and use it as one cheese board and one for sliced apples, etc. for a picnic/snack.

pickup truck w/cap VS a Van ? i am undecided

Do you want to camp "in" the vehicle or "around" the vehicle? With a Van (depending on model), you at least have a chance to be able to stand up inside. Pop-top or hi-top is probably a must here unless you're short. With a truck/cap, unless it's an opened flip-pac, you won't be standing...

Sounds awesome Mike, can't wait to see what you come up with!

Just installed my solar panel on my van.

Wow, good catch Mike. I missed that when I looked at the photos. Yeah, that's absolutely going to be a factor in any charging problems.

how to measure amp draw of a fridge

You can see how I did it here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/23350-Cheap-Fridge-lt-400-shipped?p=833347&highlight=#post833347 I used a precision shunt to measure the current using a voltmeter. In my case I did long-term tests, so I captured the data via RS-232 to a PC, but for...

    Dual Battery Kit

I haven't used it, but I note that it includes a "ground cable", but from the picture it looks like a short length meant to ground the battery to the chassis. I much prefer a full return cable from battery to battery. The T-Max kit actually includes about 20' of cable, IIRC, but it was a bit...

Escape Gear Seat Covers now in stock!

Since I lust after these, but they aren't made for my Astro (big surprise), the next question is this: Do any of the vehicles for which these are available include arm rests? I'd consider finding a set of seats to swap into my van if they included some fold-up armrests.

Grumpy the Astro van - One man's delusions, a love story.

Hehe, don't think I can answer this one. I don't have the G80. As for how strong, well the ring & pinion should be the same as the regular 7-5/8" rear, so it will not be any stronger than the regular astro "soccer duty" axle. T.Low had an aftermarket Eaton locker for a while, I think, and...

    Camp stoves Help!

Your level of neatness required may be higher than mine... I used JB weld to seal my penny stove when I didn't get the two halves of beer cans smooshed together - at that point I didn't care about looks so I just mixed up a small batch and used a toothpick to pack it into the seam. If I...
