    PLB (Personal locating beacon)

I've had an Inmarsat Isatphone Pro(1st gen) since about 2011. Still works fine, send texts and text-only emails as well as makes voice calls. I've never needed it for an emergency. At first the service was cheap enough to leave it activated all year (like $100 for 2 years), but they kept...

    Camp Stereo

Stereo sound from one point is not acceptable, so that rules out the jobsite speaker/radios. While in the past I've heard boom boxes that had good sound, most boom boxes I've heard lately sound awful. If I couldn't find good sounding boom boxes, I'd consider getting 2 jobsite speaker/radios and...

    Camping Chair Storage Bag

Real waterproof is a tall demand. I thought of suggesting large tripod cases, but most i've seen/used aren't waterproof. Many claim water resistant. tripod bags at B&H

    Collapsible Shower Pan

I take your point. But that tall-sided box looks like a tripping hazard, especially when wet.

    Collapsible Shower Pan

I applaud your notion to not dump soap-contaminated water onto the ground in a nice, natural place, but if you are planning to stand in that polypropylene tray, don't expect it to last past one, or maybe a few uses. I'd look for a heavier-duty polyethylene tray, like a cement mixing tray.

    Dashcam and GPS combo

I wouldn't get any dashcam that has GPS unless the function that records your speed and attaches that metadata to the recording can be shut off.

Who is using Goal Zero Yeti to power your fridge?

Quick reference: One Group 34 Odyssey/DieHard AGM runs my Engel MT45 for at least three days in hot weather on camping trips, presumably longer in cooler weather. Has been doing that for over 5 years, so the battery is surviving OK and presumably not damaged. I'd expect six days on 2 of these...

    keeping rubber goods fresh

My current set of Toyota OEM belts and hoses has been in the same Ziploc freezer bag for just over 5 years, no sticking, clinging, or deposits. They've been moved around to different storage spots several times. I live in what is supposed to be a fairly dry climate, So. Cal.

    keeping rubber goods fresh

I have my spare belts and hoses under the pass side back seat in extra large ziploc freezer bags. The idea is minimize air exchange. The belts and hoses bathe in their own [unpleasant chemical]smell. Works for me. OT, Agree that Simple Green has something wrong with it. They may have...

    Tyvek Paper USGS Maps

Good resource to know about. Having a 17" wide inkjet printer on hand, I print mine on 17x22 (about 2/3 size, I think) on Epson Presentation Matte paper for a total net cost of about $1.50 each.

    Camp shower advice needed

I got a cheap radiator filler funnel for my small Nemo. It fits well, but I haven't field-tested it yet. I used the electrically-pumped Big Kahuna on the last two trips and it was adequate.

    Zarges boxes for broke people?

I thought I'd bring up the two definite downsides to my Zarges case...and, presumably, any other brand of bare aluminium case: 1. Hard objects carried within make noise if they rattle against the inside walls of the cases. Not an issue for many, but for a vehicle with a single interior...

Gas or propane what do you like better?

Car gas and white gas stink when being burned. Propane stinks a lot less. Easy decision for me. Some folks love the smell of petrochemicals.

Engel vs ARB, battle of the frig

I bought my MT45 because it was a time-proven product, and the idea of mechanical/electric simplicity---one moving part in the compressor--- appealed to me. 'Engel' is the name that Sawafuji Electric, LTD gave to their portable 12 volt fridge/freezers back in the late 1950's when the first ones...

    Camp shower advice needed

I have the original Helio shower. The fill hole is too small and would require a funnel, which just slows down filling it. If they made the hole big enough to directly (quickly) pour hot water in...that'd be an improvement. Also, plastic materials with seams that have been glued and welded have...
