    LR3 Brake controller install

New observation....the LR3 provides power to the brake controller all the time. It does not shut off with the ignition. I wasn't expecting this. So far the only downside is that the manual controller has a small red LED lit all the time. I'll consider it an extra security warning light for now...

The DiscoDavis Discovery 3 Build Thread

Things I have done in the past.... Open relay and jam contact together with paper, wood, etc... Make a 'jumper' relay with permanently closed contacts that can be swapped for a working relay to energize a circuit. (or jumper wire) Make a relay with an external switch that jumps the contacts...

    LR3 Brake controller install

It works as well as any other brake controller I've used through the years. This one works on inertia and sensed speed changes of the truck to control the voltage to the trailer brakes. (as opposed to lower end units that just use time of brake application to control the trailer brakes)

    LR3 Brake controller install

After purchasing a trailer for the Scouts, I searched for a brake trailer controller install on an LR3 for inspiration. I mostly came up short, other than pretty traditional "under the dash" units. I did come across the Hopkins InSIGHT™ Flex-Mount™ Brake Control that seemed a bit more...

? About LR 3 suspension upgrade

Yes, poor wording on my part. Not good for a failed bag, but for broken lines or compressor or maybe a failed computer or valve assembly.

? About LR 3 suspension upgrade

Those kits look nice, but kinda spendy. For a trail fix, I would just use basic push to connect parts from a vender like McMaster Carr. I would get: 1: tube fitting (6mm?) to male NPT, likely 1/8" NPT 2: Female NPT to female NPT coupling, likely 1/8" NPT 3: Schrader valve w/ 1/8" male NPT 4...

Traxide dual battery system - Which version to get?

I forget the details, so you'll have to do some research, but there is a reason most universal automatic battery isolators/switches are not recommended to be used in a LR3/4. It has to do with the ECU controlled charging rate. The alternator does not have a traditional voltage regulator. The ECU...

    LR3 Third Row Conversion

I have tan rear carpet too. I think bungee nets are on NON-rear A/C trucks.

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

Some pictures out in a place called Truckhaven/Ocotillo Wells near the Salton Sea with some Jeep friends. The CJ3 flat fender runs a 4:1 transfer with locked D44s front and rear and 35s. The CJ7 is stock with a 304 V8, open diffs and 33s. My LR3 has the V8, the HD locker and 32s. It goes pretty...

carrying bikes and a family in an LR3

The factory Bluetooth only works with phone calls. It will not stream audio. You can tell if it has it by looking for the phone answer (green) and hang up (red) buttons on the steering wheel. It usually needs a software update to work with modern phones. This can be done with a Faultmate or an...

    V6 LR3, are they good?

Is it safe to assume that even if the 'core' motor is a Ford product the manifolds, drivebelt asemblies, sensors, electrics, throttlebody, and ECU are Land Rover specific?

LR3 small scout trip report, mileage, etc

Hopefully this mini-report helps somebody down the line when a "Is an LR3/4 good for me" question pops up. Over the last week we took 21 scouts and 4 leaders to Camp Whitsett for summer camp. My 2006 LR3 HSE was the main workhorse. It carried 7 passengers at all times, and towed the gear...

    What the heck is this???

Something like the following is the best it gets. I personally haven't tried it though. My Phone dock has a dedicated audio out line that I just plug into the port on the back of the console...

    What the heck is this???

It a hardwired phone interface. It was used with a semi-custom adapter depending on what phone you had. Mostly older Nokia phones. It's not of any use to any modern phone.

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

Yes, true. I chose the Goodyear over the Goodrich because of snow/mud reviews (both here and net wide). I was also specifically looking for a tire that was made here in the USA.

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

Agreed, the major factor in the decision to go with the 275/65 vs. the 265/65 was the LT rating.

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

Before: After: Stock height, no lift yet (rod or electronic) Details. Most should be self explanatory, ask if you think I can answer a question for you: Very low air pressure, required a bit of "foot leverage" to get it started under the tow receiver. I carry a compressor, so as long...

Curious to get your take on the new direction of Disco

The reason LR is chasing the luxo-car segment in China is because China is heading towards a wealth inequality situation seen only in African counties so far. There isn't and likely won't be a market for a cheaper utility vehicle. Only high end cars for the wealthy and 'sub-cars" (motorcycles...
