    Planning a Trans-Labrador trip

I've run my Yagi for cell signal and find it's specific to frequency. I stopped because it was line of sight to a tower. Found it to be more of a PITA then useful.. Hd no idea it would work Ham. Do figure it's still line-of-sight, right? It now resides in my cousin's shop as it's beyond Wifi...

    Planning a Trans-Labrador trip

Always do chat it up as we travel. Learn so much from the locals! Cocktail crab aye? Will do! We are seafood lovers!! Also changed the Build-Journal to my website. I'm posting that one in more detail.

    Planning a Trans-Labrador trip

Really didn't add to the point of why, but that's okay. We'll be able to check in daily via cell and decided to re-intall the CB for road chat. To my surprise I learned that the TLH (which by now I hope you looked up being your comments pertain to it) is busier than some roads we already...

    Planning a Trans-Labrador trip

I've now done a bit of research on Ham in Labrador.. I've only found one repeater in Labrador City.. Once on the coast, things change! Doesn't seem to be an option for traveling the TLH..

Anyone know if they still use CB or changed to GMRS for road chat?

    Planning a Trans-Labrador trip

Good mentions and appreciate it! I have a few spots we hope to check out as traveling. This is not just a drive through for us! We laugh when folks say it takes 3 days.. It seems to take us twice that as we stop and investigate a bit along the way. Any other spots you think of, please do mention...

    Planning a Trans-Labrador trip

    Planning a Trans-Labrador trip

My experience so far with ham is very limited. What I have read so far is that there are no repeaters along the TLH (Trans Labrador Highway). Not sure what kind of setup could broadcast from there. I've rad that Ham can be setup to message, but again.. repeaters required I believe. Please...

Looks like Bell is in those areas as well. Puts service in all the spots I thought I would.

    Planning a Trans-Labrador trip

I'll be coming in from Rt 138 and I read that's the only section that still has gravel. Paved to Manic 5, gravel for another 100 or so miles, than mix gravel/pavement to Labrador City. Sound about right? Can you confirm cell service in LC, Churchill Falls, Port Hope? Or just Wifi?

    Planning a Trans-Labrador trip

Chris, I do appreciate the response. I'm finding Zoleo to be less expensive in short use than InReach and if I'm reading correctly, InReach wants to communicate with other InReach devices to make it more affordable. Zoleo just SMS messages. There does seem to be some data transfer as well with...

    Planning a Trans-Labrador trip

It is said that there is no other means to communicate along the TLH than sat-phone. It makes sense to me that the Pro drivers & enthusiast's like me would be still using GMRS/CB for localized traffic/talk. I plan on still having my GMRS running, but really thinking about picking up a Zoleo...

    2016 F250 Project truck

Bounced around on the frame with those lifts setup. Oh ya does it stabilize the camper! Because of the sq tube I can turn them for stowage. Just need to cut the tongue a bit so it fits under and make a lock-in-place! How cool when something just works so well!

    2016 F250 Project truck

That took some time to work out! I'm going to change that top nut as it's a different size than all else needed to remove the camper. Besides it's long and doesn't need to be. I'll make a real foot down the line.. Question now is, Do I travel with these as they pull out and store. Use them as...

    2016 F250 Project truck

I hard mounted 1.0 with rubber pads under. All I did was cut up a rubber tire tube and placed a couple layers between. Amazingly it survived. Plan on doing the same only gluing it down this time (PITA when removing & mounting again). I had 6 points of contact last time and honestly only used 4...

    2016 F250 Project truck

With rains for the next few days coming, I moved the frame in the garage and forgot to shoot a pic of the front angles. Sorry, yet best from in the garage.. Have to do a major cleanup in there and takeover the whole area if I hope to get anything done over the next few days.. I like the...

    2016 F250 Project truck

Been a few days. Bed's off and new deck framed up! Wheel wells are inbound this time. I did go 3" wider this time.. I noticed the cab is ~3" wider than my '04 as well. So far I'm not seeing an issue here! Obviously need to build up the wheel well. Gas line is run differently in this rig and...
