    2016 F250 Project truck

Time to start cutting the bed away! First thought was to keep and build up from an existing bed platform. Understand, bed.. deck.. not walls. *Okay I want a 10ft deck so I can add to it.. sounds okay, but in practical sense.. not so much. *Then thinking I can keep the fuel fill column as...

    2016 F250 Project truck

I got the load thing and just like he was trying to assist. I do understand load to tire no matter what size the rim is. Good there. I don't seem build going beyond stock weight configuration. Brakes should be good. Since I built my first on a F150 platform (notice my icon) I do get limits. I...

    2016 F250 Project truck

I'm pricing both tire & wheels. I figure it has to be cheaper to go tall tire then go 18" or 20" wheel and put a tire on those.. Then again, what each does as gains for the dollar. If I find a decent set of 18's/20's at the reseller's, that will aid in the decision process.

    2016 F250 Project truck

Actually a standard bed truck, but as with my last build (F150) I'll be removing it and going frame up. Building off the 1/2 ton taught me a lot about keeping everything as light as possible. Thanx for the input!

    2016 F250 Project truck

Only reason I have to increase wheel size is to gain clearance. I'll be running by a couple of resellers soon and check some pricing.

    2016 F250 Project truck

I've bought my rig, like it and ready to build up from. Here's the basic design: I've taken a tad beyond, but not much, for the basic idea is there. The rig sits on 17" rims as stock and will go 18" no matter. Question 1 becomes... 20"??? It will handle them..Is the cost of tire, running...

DIY Composite Camper T100 Expedition Vehicle Build

Hey Matt! Good to see the progress! Question for ya about the gas struts (shocks). I believe you say they are 80lb strength and I figure that's mid point of lift due mainly to angles of strut as it works. Can you confirm what you feel as you lift? Even through-out or strong/light at points...

My DIY OVRLND-style Pop Up Camper

Welcome to the world of DIY truck campers! I'm still tossing around the idea of doing a foldable hard side. In the Nor'east we have plenty of wind protection (trees) that is not present in the southwest desert, especially Baja.. I had never encountered such winds before! Has me...

2nd half of the Foliage New Hampshire run

This is part 2 of the route we did from Errol into Pittsburg NH. The first part is of Little Garfield Falls that is along the way. We hit it right for color in the backcountry! [tube]

    Foliage in Northern New Hampshire

We try most years to get north for the backcountry colors. It goes very quick and tough to time it. Now being retired, timing is working with us and we caught the colors! Also found a 'new to us' route on dirt Errol to Pittsburg, NH I met a group out of New York that was backcountry traveling...

Third & last campground in Maine we checked up

I was hoping for this fall, but it's still weird... Quebec just went into another phase of locking down, so I'm not even sure next summer will happen.. Till we can, I'll be exploring the Maine coast deeper! West Quoddy Point is the furthest east point of the USA and also a cool place to visit...

Third & last campground in Maine we checked up

This is my favorite! I figure most folks here will relate to this one. Bumpy dirt road heading in, flush toilets that are a walk from any site, very rustic/wooded sites and one amazing coastline without a sandy beach.. Heaven! With barely (if) a dozen sites, it just won't get over-run. We found...

Second Coastal Campground in Maine we checked out.

We went there last year! West Quoddy Head is also the eastern most point in the US, so we just had to go there! I wish we could have gone over to Campobello Island while there...

Second Coastal Campground in Maine we checked out.

We traveled up and stayed at Lamoine State Park as the second stop on our way up the coastline. We're trying to hit those spots just off the real busy areas. This one hits the mark! Fewer water view sites (5 or 6) and the rest up the hill from there, yet they have a abundance of field space to...

Okay not overlanding, but if you like the coast of Maine..

We need a rest bit of cool air after running the Mid-Atlantic... Blue Ridge down and up the NF's. Great run, yet the heat and humidity got to us and we needed coastal Nor'east time. This is the 1st of 3 campgrounds we wanted to see and decide if we would return to. I will say 'yes' on all 3...

Bit less MABDR and more Byway as we leave Virginia

We left Virginia and entered West Virginia. The Temperature & humidity was on the rise and forecasted to stay that way (or climb) all week. We needed out of this and get to where suits us better. That took getting into PA! We will go back, but it will be later in the season! There's just so...
