Virginia Scenic Byway & Parts of the MABDR

This is our second day working north in Virginia using the MABDR as our guide. We spent probably as much time on as we did off the MABDR for several reasons, yet mainly because we just missed a turn... happens.. seems to us more than not, lol

    Parts of the MABDR

Continuing north through the Mid-Atlantic! We jumped on and off the MABDR depending on what we saw of road/trail condition. I picked up a 'click' in the steering which turned out to be the steering shaft (easy replacement) so I was being extra cautious. We found what I call a small Canyon on...

    Parts of the MABDR

Routes come from the same folks. I received a lower section that starts just north of Waynesville. A few sections we passed on due to seeing what looked 'tight' for my rig. We only completed MA 1-3. I hope to do the remaining traveling south at some point.

    Parts of the MABDR

I should have just started a new thread on this vs. adding to the old one so here it is. We ran several sections of the MABDR as we traveled northward heading home from Tennessee. A few sections I bailed on mainly because we're traveling solo, a couple due to just missing the turn (or not...

Having fun driving south on the Blue Ridge Parkway

LOL! Even with Gaia and the route marked out... it's no easy to follow at times! We did as much of it I wished to mainly due to being solo and so far from home. This is the 1st video of starting on the MABDR. Starts about 4 minutes in.. The Rattlesnake! Road not animal [tube]

DIY Composite Camper T100 Expedition Vehicle Build

I'm about it do some modifications to mine and setup outside storage. I like what you are doing and trying to see how much I can incorporate into my mod's. Thoughts on the Truckhouse Tacoma expedition camper...

Just saw this. Gorgeous but really on a Tacoma? I own a Taco and love, yet know the limitations! My F150 is dong the deed and believe a better platform then the Taco is in my future. I'm in search of pre '85 that isn't trashed.. 3/4 to 1 ton.. This on a Taco? Hmm.. Not from what I see in...

    Any RTT's builders/makers over here?

I'm not making an RTT, but my poptop truck camper is tent walled. I'm working out details on the awning some of the RTT's have over their windows. It's a how they stay in place with just that tension pole... Hope to hear from someone that may have a clue.. Got a feeling it's just a math things...

    Fabric on the pop-top..

I'm down to 4 now. Fronts' gone for reasons told, rear they just don't do much for air and with my lift/brace it really doesn't leave much. I've found when I set the rear fly and it rains it has a tendency to drip onto the outer edge of those windows. They're gone now. I'm down to 2 on each side...

    Fabric on the pop-top..

Thank you! I do 'feel' it's a bit lightweight yet at 8.8oz... well fingers crossed. Not seeing much difference being yours is also 100% polyester. Hoping the additional weight and weave type will do the trick. I under bought with the duck cloth and have 4 seams in the wall panels.. This time I...

I decided to build my own Pop Top camper

Good for you dude! You built it and now travel in it! I do hope to meet you somewhere along the path of exploring! Side note: I have a Toyota the wife says I can't play with yet.. Nice platform to build from and awaiting her okay. Till then, she just has to deal with my 2004 Overlander.. LOL...

    Fabric on the pop-top..

I just bought some Ottertex® Polyester Ripstop (PU) - 8.7 oz, so it's late to ask if anyone has experience with it. Details/specs looked good enough to just go for it. I'm coming from Duck Cloth and want something a bit better... Really hoping I didn't make a mistake.. I'll know personally next...

DIY Composite Camper T100 Expedition Vehicle Build

Figured I should be asking over here as the Maker's are mostly here.. What I gathered is on a deep/long panel pour you are doing several pours? That would eliminate that build up/pressure I thought could happen. You said something about the added pour within 6 minutes to ensure bonding? This...

New to campers and surprised by the high prices. How come a camper is half the cost of a car?

2yrs ago! And who in their right mind pays $80K for a pickup? Pricing has gone nuts and there is no good reason to jump on the wagon and allow it to continue.

New to campers and surprised by the high prices. How come a camper is half the cost of a car?

I still belong to a forum of a trailer I once owned. They are still talking about replacing 'factory' suspension on new purchases because of failure that are known to exist. Yet folks keep on buying... Replacing a suspension on a under-built frame really doesn't cure the issue at hand. I just...

New to campers and surprised by the high prices. How come a camper is half the cost of a car?

I'm still a blinking! $300 of material and two days of time. Good money if someone is dumb enough to pay it. I built mine!

New to campers and surprised by the high prices. How come a camper is half the cost of a car?

As with everything, product pricing has gone through the roof! You won't see reasonable priced units until product pricing returns to a normal state again. No one can afford to build/sell low cost units. This is why you see such an up-tick in DIY builds! What I could have bought 2 yrs ago for...
