    Alaskan Camper '84/'14 Build Thread

Thanks for the kind words. Regarding the extended nose. I'm slightly concerned the whole thing will fall off the first time I use it (sorta kidding) The original bracket had 3x3" vertical corner angles with 2x2" horizontal and a large triangle brace in the corner between the 3" and 2". I rebuilt...

Many aluminum framed campers have wood inside the aluminum tubing for screws to bite into, so while the frame won't rot, not sure what would happen if the wood inside got soggy. A well built wood camper can be light, has better thermal properties, and for most people is easier to work with...

I extended my cabover just under two feet, my wife and I are about 5'7", so this is enough for us to sleep north/south. It is a fairly time consuming project, I would recommend you just keep camping! Sent from my Passport using Tapatalk 2

Thanks for the positive vibes Happyjax- the Alaskan is a beautiful camper and like any camper especially a wood framed one-you must keep up on the maintenance, like the seal around the roof vents. because the Alaskan roof moves up and down there is a rubber wiper that seals the upper and lower...

    Tc650 owners-Tundra/Silverado/f150?

Don't worry about, it's in your head, the 2500 and 3500 are identical size. I can't remember if I already posted this, but my 2500 has better visibility for passing and backing up than my 1500 did(bigger mirrors), the hood is higher on the 2500, so things are harder to see when you get tight to...

Here are the two side panels, The front is the same except wider. All have a 12x24" screened slider window. Here is the lower door finished except for the 1.5" Aluminum flat stock trim that will go on the bottom and non-hinge side to cover the door gap when closed.

Brad- I went back and attached the pics that were missing from my pc I made the edge trim from 1/16" aluminum plate and angle stock that I ripped on my tablesaw. I had it powder coated after sanding and drilling. I have lots more for the front and rear corners and the door trim. While I was at...

If I can't figure out why I can't post pics from my phone I am going to rapidly lose interest in keeping this thread updated. Before when I attached a photo I was given two options, Tapatalk hosted, or forum hosted, the second option is no longer avaliable, and the first doesn't work. Any ideas...

I have the rest of the camper in "Kit" form. Over the winter I made the cab-over section and the three flip up cab-over side walls. The original cab-over floor and flip walls were all solid 3/4' ply with only a front window. I made the flip panels and floor from a ply-foam-ply sandwich. The flip...

Here is the nose of the roof section, it still needs the butyl tape trimmed and caulked, as well as the LED clearance lights installed.
