I haven't gotten an app yet but I'd suggest going to both Hema and Gaia and checking their reviews. I understand that anyone can write anything and post as a review but one company has a an unbalanced number of negative reviews compared to the other.
I agree. Not that thrilled with Central/South America but see the draw for the Overland community. I personally think there's enough north of the Mexican border to see and I don't have to deal with language barriers, drug dealers, Federales, etc as long as I stay out of Chicago :)
I think the...
Leitner Designs makes a nice rack but they're pricey. I wound up making my own out of aluminum tubing but definitely not as high speed as theirs.
Here's a pic of mine. I wanted it tall enough that I could walk under the RTT when it was deployed.
I bought mine from a member here and just registered it last night. There's a $19.95 activation fee then you can choose to buy an annual subscription as low as $12/month (plus about $5 in gov't taxes added to the back of that) or you can buy a single month at a time. Different plans cost...
Well we made it to Big Bend National Park and I finally got to do some technical trail driving. The truck handled great and I only had 1 incident and that put a fairly good sized dent in the fuel tank skid plate but it did what it was supposed to do and saved the tank.
A couple of things that...
After a year of planning and everyone in the group bailing on me the week before the trip I finally made it back to Big Bend National Park. This is a 7 hour drive from home and I already live in Central TX so can see why not as many folks make it out there compared to some of the other National...
Not worried about efficiency. This is just a temp setup until I can determine where to mount a second battery permanently. Rather than run a bunch of wire that would have to be yanked out later this was a cheaper easier fix.
Not sure that it will help in your situation but I have a built in invertor in the bed of my Titan. I'm not running a fridge (yet) but what I am doing is running a NOCO Genius 7200 charger off the invertor and charging the battery while driving. Since I'm not pulling as many amps out of the...
I passed a Buick Le Sabre on Old Maverick Road last year so you shouldn't have any trouble. Terlingua Abajo 1-3 and Ocotillo Grove are both very flat camp sites. Closer to the Basin - Croton Springs and all of the Paint Gap spots are good too although the last couple of Paint Gap are a bit...
Mine has a different patina. After starting the restoration we discovered it was an Israeli Lend/Lease vehicle that wound up back in the states. This is actually the wife's truck and she wanted it painted as it was during the Six Day War so is Sinai Grey with black and white battle markings...
Just got a Camp Chef Everest. Right out of the box the ignitor is non-functioning. I like the control of the burners and the BTUs but the ignitor is crap.
In that case, way over priced for what you'd get. With all the fancy motor and transfer case you're still limited to about 45mph with the stock axles and the extremely poor stock brakes. Anyone wanting a restorable M37 could get an unmolested one (even rust free) for about 1/4 of what he's...
You need another vehicle along? I was scheduled to go from 10/29 - 11/05 but the other 2 vehicles bailed on me and the wife didn't want me out on the primitive roads without a support vehicle in case I got stuck (like that would ever happen). We did about half of the River Road last year but...
