It takes a lot more time finding a rock free level spot for a ground tent than it does opening my tent and climbing in bed. Most people I see complaining about RTTs have never used one. I'll never sleep in a ground tent again.
How's your fuel mileage? Gas is on its way back up and the 5.6 gets crappy fuel economy. I know, I have 2 of them. It's a great engine if you can afford it but add the cost of extra fuel to the cost of a higher car payment and likely more expensive insurance.
I'll add to what Andy has to say about Black Gap Road. I did it North to South after camping at Glenn Springs the night before. I was driving a Nissan Titan quad cab and you'll definitely get pin stripping going through the willows at the beginning of the road. I was concerned about the step at...
This is a timely thread for me as I'm in exactly the same position. I want the portable and thought the twin would be better since it has the pony tank and can run air tools. Then I started thinking about how often I'd actually run air tools and decided the single would get the job done and...
Having lived in the PNW I know what you mean about rain. The Decked system pretty much protects everything in them but they are limited in the size of stuff you can store there. Since we don't have anyone other than the 2 of us on trips the backseat area, outside what the dog takes up, is free...
In the same boat with daily meds, although its MS instead. My insurance allows for 90 day supplies as long as the Dr will write the script for it. Now it's just a matter of timing it right before I do the IDBDR in July so I have at least 45 days worth before heading out.
I know this is a bit of an old thread but maybe I can add a little information.
You should contact your insurance company about getting a 90 day supply of your medication (make sure your doctor will prescribe it as well) instead of going to multiple pharmacies you can just go to your normal...
Looks like a nice table.
For those that are cheap (like me) a small galvanized trash can (also known as an ash can) works great in cold weather. It keeps the heat in and is an excellent wind break.
My wife has a 2010 Titan SV Crew Cab and sitting side by side they're pretty close to the same height. If there's any difference I'd chock it up to tread depth/pattern more than anything else.
I like my Pro 4X and solved the storage problem with a Decked system. Yes it costs money but leaves the bed more usable compared to a canopy and cheaper.
I'm guessing the pups will be happy to be able to stretch their legs anytime they want. Ours was stuck in the back seat all the way from San Antonio to Albuquerque and back. He slept almost the entire trip and when we did stop to let him out he sure was reluctant to get back in the truck...
The week of Thanksgiving is supposed to be one of their busiest of the year so hopefully next week will be quieter. I would recommend printing off the campsite request form and having several alternates picked ahead of time. The guys ahead of us in line took about 30 minutes to get situated...
We did get a lot of pin striping but it wasn't as bad as I initially thought. I had a pretty good coat of dust that protected it. Still there's some minor scratching in the clear coat. I bought this truck specifically for doing this so knew it had to be christened sometime.
We shot the whole...
I'll try and answer some of the questions without quoting them. It always seems to clog a thread up to me.
1) One of our favorite spots is a very short hike so should be attainable to anyone visiting the park. That would be the Lower Burro Mesa Pour-off Trail. The Pour-off is a half barrel...
