    Nissan Bushmaster spotted

Not sure of any specific forum dedicated to the 720, but I will be the first to admit I have never looked. I know that rust was a major enemy of these guys, especially on the beds, just like the toyotas of the same vintage.

    Nissan Bushmaster spotted

Same size as hardbody roughly, not any bigger. The 720 is NOT a big truck. If it has a diesel, most likely it is a SD22-25. My guess is it came with the standard z22-24 depending on the year. The z24 was a great workhorse motor, IMHO just as good as the 22R coming from Toyota. I had this long...

    Nissan Bushmaster spotted

Except that is the 720 body style, not the hardbody... the hardbody had a 4 runner equivelant, it was called the pathfinder!:sombrero:

    road test of the J8

Yes, there is a 6speed option for the Euro/Aus CRD wranglers, but I recall reading somewhere that the military varient has a higher torque output and that the diesel has already been detuned for use with the 6speed as it is running on the ragged edge. That being said, all stuff I have picked up...

    road test of the J8

It is just unfortunate that the Diesel has no manual option. Yeah yeah, I know all to well the benefits of an auto offroad and that the diesel puts out too much torque in stock form for the stock manual, but I just don't enjoy slush boxes.

    No more Wrangler?

Well then there was the whole phoenix engine initiative, but the JK probably would be one of the last platforms to see that powerplant line since dependability and ruggedness aka a proven drivetrain is imperative to the wrangler line up. Plus, with Chrysler up on the chopping block who knows...

    Expedition Sidecar

Offroad... well IMHO, not really. If you buy a Patrol or Gear-Up, you get 2wd and reverse, which puts you way ahead of a Vstrom or KLR in an offroad or even expedition style trip with lots off offroad sections. That being said, a KLR is one of the best 1 bike combos on the market. Huge...

    Drool Worthy

I really take issue with the arguement that we can't have them here and that nobody would ever buy them, import costs are too high, etc. The reality is that GM, Ford, and Dodge offer rather robust and heavy duty diesel truck offerings here in the US for a reasonable price. The HZJ78 is a very...

    HardBody???

Funny you mention that Phil. I was in an accident in one where we launched off the side of the road down a pretty steep drop off into a water filled ditch. Totally buckled in the A pillar on the passenger side, doors wouldn't shut... rig was totalled. 60-0 in about 3 seconds or so. We both...

    HardBody???

I owned several of these in various iterations, both regular and extended cab, 2wd and 4wd. All had the Z24i or the KA24E. All were absolutely phenomenal vehicles. I had one 2wd running through flood waters nearly up to the windows as a stupid kid and am still absolutely amazed that it didn't...

    1984 toyota 4x4 - $2600 (portland)

Rust is surprisingly not much of an issue in Oregon, unless you are on the coast. We do not salt our roads in winter and there a number of typically very rust free specimens of vehicles out here.... take it from a volvo guy who knows.

Chris, I too run a tablet and look forward to hearing more about Overland Navigator. That sounds perfect. Unlike you, I haven't had any issues with Vista and any of my bluetooth GPS units. I run an i-Blue 737 and i-Blue 757 solar powered with data logger and both have been great. Jack

    netbooks

I've played with a number of these. If you are looking for low cost of entry and best keyboard, I highly suggest the HP Mini 1000 or the replacement to the 2133, the 2140 which you should see out there shortly. In my opinion, most of the netbooks simply have two small of a keyboard to use...
