I currently have a Fiamma F35 pro on my 2-door JK. I can open it on my own, but it's kindof a pain. That, and I'm not too crazy about ordering a wall kit for it from Europe. Lately I've been eyeing an Eezi-Awn Series 2000 because the wall kit looks awesome.
Can someone that has a Series 2000...
I have decided that I absolutely MUST have a SP CS-510 (22cm dutch oven), but it looks like these were discontinued about 5 years ago. Anybody have an idea of where to find old stock...or buy used SP gear? The current 26cm version won't fit in my allotted space. A real bummer.
I've been looking...
I don't mean to hijack the thread, but this seems to be relevant to Snowpeak. :) How do you wash them with the silicone coating? Do they need to be seasoned (over the silicone)? Is it OK to use chain mail (like traditional cast iron)? I'd love to hear how each of you keep your SP iron in good shape.
The Byte Tyte looks nice. Here is another question for you gentlemen...I don't pack a saw (in fact have never owned one), but would like to buy one if I can figure out a way to mount it to the bottom of my roof rack and secure it. If one were to install the Byte Tyte under a roof rack and let...
I have another question for you good folks. After doing some more reading on the Interwebs, it appears that the SP cast iron is coating in heat-resistant silicone. Is this true? I hope not. Was looking forward to seasoning them myself. Information about this is hard to find.
Thanks.
I also inquired about the rear JK bumper recently and received the same information from Pronghorn. Might decide to invest in a set when both are available.
Bummer! Well, I guess that means I have to forgo the MSR stuff and get a SP Duo and Micro Oval instead. The two of them will fit in the space. Thanks sir! Now I can tell the wife that my $500.00 cast-iron set is all your fault. :)
I really appreciate the info Riptide. Can I ask you one more question? Tonight I templated the diameter of a coated MSR pot set and the Snowpeak Duo to see if both would fit in the very small space in my Jeep drawer. According to written diameter specs, they won't, but it's close.
Can you...
Cast Iron Duo question
Hi All,
I'm gearing up to order a grand's worth of Snowpeak gear for the kitchen in my Jeep and space is very limited. Can anyone that has the Snowpeak Cast Iron Duo tell me how tall the kit is when stacked for storage? I'd really love to know the max height with and...
Really interested in this thread. I've decided that camp pots MUST have some sort of non-stick coating. Anything else is just "too much work". Anyone found a stackable system that will fit in a 9-inch space?
Not silly at all MattJ. I went through the same tests when I started with the Propex. I think that the most important part about Propex is....they just work. Connecting 12 volts + propane + supply tube = get warm!
The rest is just minutia. The most fun I've ever had in "Overlanding" is playing...
I did the same thing...almost exactly. LOL. I managed to house the white six-pin connector inside the box though. Wasn't easy.
I'll grab a pic the next time I have the thermostat out.
I kid you not...I was sitting here reading this thread, and the UPS guy dropped of my parts for my Propex halfway through. I've been using a Propex without a return line this year. Doesn't work in the winter time. Each time the heater cycles it blows cold air into the tent before and after...
I have one that a buddy at work gave me and used it on my 22 inch partner steel stove last weekend during a 4-wheeling trip to reheat a toasted sub. Worked great. No plans to bake at camp, but it's cool to have a small piece of kit to reheat leftovers on the trail. Overall, I like it.
