    CA18_Sean's HJ75 Troopy - Build & Restore Thread

You make very important distinctions. In a 4x4 only situation, ie- mine site operations, they are a very inexpensive way to have a positive locked differential. Carrying spare parts is a good idea if you're using the truck for heavy use, whether for work or pleasure. But that distinction is...

I would stay away from those type of lockers. They wear out and/or break. They cause on-road handling issues, premature tire wear, etc. A better choice for on-road use would be a simple old school limited slip.

The ride is nice with no quirks. As with any off-road capable street rig, it is a tad on the soft side, but that just makes it comfortable. The sway bars and shocks take care of any body roll or suspension dive. The only thing I have to complain about is the ackerman. If you guys recall, we...

A flattie with a 22RE is perfect, but I don't know that I would bother sticking a 3RZ in a full size pickup. I know they're not huge, but I think it would need a bit more power than that. Speaking of weird Toyota transplants, have you guys seen this...

That's a compliment to the original designers of the body style. It's design is very pliable. But to your point, it sits a mere 5 inches taller than stock, even with the tires. I raised it an inch after we added the bumpers just to be on the safe side.

He has a 500+ cubic inch Mopar in it. Thing sounds totally wicked. He admitted it had a bit too much cam though... Which Toyota drivetrain would you put in a Willys p/u?

    The Silver Ghost

In Australia, Adventure and Dementia rhyme. But I totally agree. Death before Depends.

Yeah, I'll get some pics of the tray. I like the tray. It's simple and easily removable, plus it's light weight. Thanks.

Need your input - would you buy a rear storage drawer "kit"

If it's anything like IKEA furniture, I would be more inclined to spend the extra money and have it assembled as per MFG specs.

I took the LC on it's first trail run yesterday. The Ultimate Adventure guys were headed this way so I met them up at the Rubicon for a quick run in to see how things worked. Their rigs were all pretty cool, including a '73 Hilux on 40's and Verne Simons' Jeep pickup that I fell in love with...

Got the LC back from 4x4 labs yesterday. The bumpers look nice. It's up on the lift getting some minor tweaks today (sliders, rear coil spacers, etc) and then this afternoon it goes on a trailer again. Headed up to the Rubicon tomorrow to meet up with some friends for a test run. Ultimate...

I need to take a pic of the pile of parts so you guys will believe me. No work has been done on it, but hopefully I'll have it completely ready and done for KOH 2017. I'd love to use it as a chase truck before I sell it.

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

Still working on getting it on the road. I'm about two weeks over budget. In searching for the "correct" fan, I found out that there was a 4 blade and a 7 blade fan, neither of them are clutch fans. Both are hard to find, especially the shroud. So instead of beating my head against the wall, a...

Of course! I'll even do it here on ExPo. I think this is my new home. The other forums are either dying or full of haters.
