The stock leaf springs feel like a 50 year old truck. Coilovers (while a tad noisy on the street) combined with the long 3 links, are going to give it a modern vehicle feel. I like to take the modern approach whenever I can. BTW- I did hack them off and make new ones. I need to post the pics...

Front axle is out along with the front suspension. Checked everything over and it's time for paint. After paint, the front axle needs to be blown apart, cleaned and assembled along with all the links and small parts. This is the fun parts...getting to see it in final assembly phase. I also had...

    1985 4RNR TRD'ed

The HD springs in the rear make it ride high, but I'm sure they will relax over time. You could overload the piss out of it to expedite the process. Aren't they nice springs though? The clamps, the sleeves in the eyes and the bushings all add up to a really nice package. And the price...can't...

I used to be a compulsive list maker, but now I leave the lists until the end of the build. I figure once I can start making to-do lists, the job is really starting to come together. Thanks.

Dual battery wiring. Painless kit to use OTRATTW Contura switch

The OTTRATTWOMG guys are always super busy, so I can cut them some slack. But for the record, they don't manufacture the switch, which is why I suggested looking at Carling's website.

That's all I've got for now, but I am working on it with 100% focus so updates will be coming soon.

Here are some shots of the body mounts in progress. Stock: New driver's side mount, made special to fit around the steering box and have clearance for the sway bar.

We purchased a Currie Antirock sway bar for the front, which is always a challenging fit, since the driver's side sway bar arm has to be bent around the steering box and pitman arm, but it also has to clear the tire at full steering lock. When building a low truck with relatively narrow axles...

Next up: battery boxes. This truck has a 24 volt system so it needs two 12 volt batteries to operate. I had to relocate both of them to fit around the new shock towers that now extend into the engine bay, which was cramped already. The driver's side box is small for one battery and the...

Modifying the steering shaft to fit around the new shock towers. By the way, the shock towers are from 4 Wheel Underground and they are really cool. I had to modify them to fit this truck as they were intended for a 40 series. I pulled out my box of steering shaft parts and found a short slip...

I apologize for the hiatus. I had this feeling like nobody would want to see the stuff I'm working on, because it may be lacking the excitement that you guys expect, but then I realized, it's all part of the build, so I may as well not hold back. Been focusing mainly on the front of the truck...

Looking for battery options now that Diehard Platinums are discontinued

I used to use the Optima yellow top in all my trucks, but then the quality dropped and I had few bad ones. Since then I have been running lead acid batteries. I have an Interstate battery in my crawler, which sees heavy winching from time to time, and it has held up fine. I know it's not very...

Yep, just like that. I make my own sleeves and buy plates from WFO. As soon as I get my plasma table up and running, I'll be able to make my own. Putting the rears up front moves the front axle forward. Obviously you know that, but the OP may not. Where is the OP anyway?
