    Grand Cherokee opinions

modelbuilder, check out www.4xguard.com for some of your WK stuff. I know a couple guys who run some of Russ's gear and are happy with it. WJ's are solid rigs. I wouldn't hesitate to own one.

Fighting Traffic When Towing A Trailer

Sorry to go off topic here, but I don't see a custom paint job on that hood, did COP ever man up and do what he told you he would?

    7.3 PSD durability?

The 7.3 itself is a tank. If you get the slushbox 4R100 behind it, it's only a matter of time before it fails. If the CPS recall is done, you're fine there, and if it's not done it's very easy. The UVCH (under valve cover harness) that powers the injectors and glow plugs can fail, but that...

Project Build: RocKrawlers 01 F250 CC SB PSD

When my harness went I didn't have a lot of time to mess with it, so I did pay to have it fixed. It was about $200. Pretty simple stuff really though. The biggest pain is getting the turbo pipes out and back in.

Project Build: RocKrawlers 01 F250 CC SB PSD

I've got pretty much the same truck as a tow rig. Bought it around 96k miles 2.5 years ago. Looks like you're headed down the right road with things. I've found fuel filters for < $20, but can't remember for the life of me where I got them from now. If I remember, I'll post up. A tranny...

How is an XJ for a big guy?

I'm 6'5" about 300, and XJ's are on the small side as far as being comfortable. But most of that is due to girth and not height. My ZJ has a bit more room for the legs under the dash, but my legs are excessively long so that's a major problem area for me anyways. My dad's 6'4" 240 and drove...

    F350 as Dakar support vehicle

As the owner of a 2001 F250, there is NO way I would trust the stock auto transmission in that scenario, and that ride would be bumpy as all get out!

    DeLorme PN-40 - Unlimited 1:24,000 Topos/Satellite imagery for $30/year

DeLorme's got the PN-20's on sale now for $199 too, so a little break on price.

    couple of truck mod questions

Do you need to go that high for 35's?? I've got on 01 F250 as a tow rig and run 33's on it with stock suspension. I wouldn't think you'd need 4.5" of lift for 35's, but then I haven't looked into the suspensions for Super Duty's too much as I don't take mine on trails very often, that's what...

    couple of truck mod questions

Gotta have some parts to use the tools to replace too! Is your F250 a 99-02 7.3? Have you had the CPS recall done? If not, you NEED to bring a CPS with you pretty much wherever you go.

    DeLorme PN-40 - Unlimited 1:24,000 Topos/Satellite imagery for $30/year

I have the PN-20 and have been very happy with it so far. Little bit of a learning curve on getting it setup to function how I wanted it too, but EXCELLENT performance in the vehicle. I've used it to navigate remote areas I've never been in before with great success. The standard maps from...

    New HMMWV spied

Can't offer any insight on the rig, but the grilled cheese sandwiches at the Gunsmoke Cafe are the best I've ever had! Hits the spot after a day in the mountains with a 2 hour drive still to go.

My experience using my SPOT Messenger's 911 emergency button

While 2 hours may be a long time for an immediately life threatening situation, I think 2 hours for a remote rescue is actually very good. It's part of the risk we take when we venture out this far. Helo's can definitely speed up the rescue as opposed to land-based rescue, but helo's aren't...

    carry gun

Pete, In CO the laws are pretty easy actually when the weapon is in your vehicle, which is where mine typically resides when we're out and about in the mountains. CO law permits a loaded weapon inside the vehicle and it can be concealed. UT, the only other state I've taken my weapon, has some...

    carry gun

I have a Glock 21 (.45) that goes with me almost everywhere when we're out wheeling or camping. My wife (who has the same issue, VERY small hands) has a Kahr CW9 that she takes with her. Both weapons were purchased with the primary purpose of home defense, but outside of the extra-large frame...

I've still got my original NES that my parents bought me for Christmas circa 1986, still "kinda" works too!
