    My new "to me" LJ

Have you flexed out the suspension travel to check for rubbing, or have you just street-driven it at this point? I am looking at a similar (or identical) set-up, and have had several people tell me that 33" tires will rub at flex. Can you confirm? I love the profile, BTW! Craig

    Collection of Trailer Builds

Mine's still a work-in-progress. M101A3 with a series of mods that make it more usable for me. A quick overview of the mods: 2" receiver tongue w/Max Coupler 3500-lb. trailer axle (5 x 4.5" bolt pattern) Jeep Ravine wheels with 31" BFG MT KM2s AT tongue box still yet to be installed Craig...

    1x1_Speed_Craig's utility/camping trailer build_v2.0

Well, I repurposed some Jeep parts I had laying around, and installed a spare tire mount & tire on the M101A3 this morning. The mounting holes for an OEM TJ spare tire mount are perfectly spaced to bolt to two of the hat channel/crossmember pieces on the underside of the tub (actually, it's...

    Input Requested...

I still don't get these kinds of comments. My M101A3 weights 1240 lbs. WITH the side rails, bows and top (obviously less without). It pulls nicely behind my 2005 Jeep LJ (3500-lb. tow rating). I guess if you're talking about a lesser tow rating, I get it. However, I'm happy with mine behind...

    My Camping Trailer Project

Sleeved, lap welded & plug welded? It looks like a solid set-up to me, but it's just my opinion. Nice work, dirtco. Craig

    1x1_Speed_Craig's utility/camping trailer build_v2.0

My LJ does OK with it. It weighs ~600 lbs. more than my old M416, but the added utility more than outweighs the trade-off with the extra weight. I like it 100% better than the M416 (for my purposes). I will also say that you can notice a lot of wind drag when the sides/canopy are on it. With...

    1x1_Speed_Craig's utility/camping trailer build_v2.0

I had an M416 previously, and for my purposes (*DISLAIMER, disclaimer), the M416 was just too small. I also found myself a little annoyed at not having a tailgate, how squirrely it was to back up (the M101A3 is much better), etc. Obviously, the M101 is much bigger/heavier, but since I don't...

    1x1_Speed_Craig's utility/camping trailer build_v2.0

Thanks! IIRC, it's 73" wide, outside of tire to outside of tire. That's about 4" wider than my Jeep, or 2" per side. Not bad, IMO. Wow! I'll let you know. I towed it with me into work today, and am going to get it weighed at lunch. Craig

What did yours end up weighing then? I still have the bows/cover on. I'm curious how much those add, as well. Craig

    1x1_Speed_Craig's utility/camping trailer build_v2.0

Thanks Pat! I wrapped up things today, and took the trailer on its maiden voyage. It pulled very nicely, and like others have mentioned, the Max Coupler was SUPER quiet. The wiring is still temporary; after I get the AT tongue box mounted, I'll be mounting a junction box on the under side of...

    Paging AT Max Coupler owners

I have an AT Max Coupler, but can't locate the directions that came with it (nor could I find them online). Is there a torque spec on the nylock nut for mounting the coupler on the receiver? I'm ready for a test-drive with my reworked M101A3...just need to get the Max Coupler mounted up...

All finish welding on the axle is complete, and it's painted and ready for reinstall. I just have to paint the U-bolts & a couple misc. parts tomorrow, and it should be ready to license within the next week. Woot! Craig

    FSJ who has them

Used to daily-drive a pretty clean '76 Cherokee Chief. Aside from the 10 mpg, I loved that truck! :coffeedrink: Craig

    1x1_Speed_Craig's utility/camping trailer build_v2.0

I got one of the new lower shock mounts done today. It's 2" x 3" tubing with 3/16" plate, and uses the original lower shock stud, which is a bigger diameter than all the aftermarket ones I have found (e.g. - Chevy style). I have the 2nd shock mount about 70% done. The most difficult work left...

    My new "to me" LJ

Looks great! Do you have any rubbing on the front control arms or frame with the 33" KM2s? I have 31" x 10.5" KM2s on my '05 LJ (love 'em), but am considering going with 33" KM2s next time around. I have a 2" budget boost on mine, though. Craig

    1x1_Speed_Craig's utility/camping trailer build_v2.0

Hi Louie, I didn't do anything special...just took the original 24V bulbs to Napa, and asked for 12V equivalents. It was just a matter of plugging them in, so I'm not sure what you're running into. Are you certain your rewire was done correctly (may be a stupid question, but...). Craig
