The only thing that it has going for it is its price. So maybe buy it for parts, otherwise IMHO - RUN AWAY!, you will stick a ton of money into this one if you plan to get it running reliable. Start with something running good. Lots of time you can find decent ones for $1500 to $2000.

What are the gear ratios of the automatics, and I assume the 91 has a lock-up converter? I'll add these ratios to my gear ratio calculator. For instance with 28" height tires and the V5MT1 5 speed the RPM at 70mph would be 3223 in 5th (overdrive 0.829 ratio) and 4th (1 to 1 ratio) is 3889...

Gear shop near me is $100 cash, bring the parts not installed in the vehicle. I'm guessing your $600 per end is drive in your vehicle, drive out complete. Otherwise you need to find a new gear shop.

Torque (free) works fine on my Gen 3. I've used it to reset those pesky o2 codes (SES light) several times.
