Just remember that you can chase symptoms all day long repeatedly, coming up with OTC fixes for just that symptom, only for others to pop up. When everything is working properly, the land rovers can operate perfectly in any climate on earth. If something isn't right, fix it properly and be...
the fact that you have a mistery coolant loss, followed by a no crank, tells me coolant is getting into the pistons. As mentioned above, it's pretty quick to confirm it. you'll probably see chocolate milk on your dipstick at this point, or coolant drops. turning your engine without pulling...
26 Feb 2012- Day 5
Awoke early to the sounds of the jungle and a fog about the lake. What a great sleep I had in the hammock; much better than I had thought. I have an older design Hennessy jungle hammock and everybody else had the newer models, but they were all great. Not having to worry...
Sweet. need a thread. One of my best friends of the military and green oval brotherhoods just got a 95 LWB classic, and has begun the first steps in his build. Graham is the only other one I know of personally that has done a Classic TDI conversion. RRC's make great overland platforms.
Suuwweeett! I have a project for this weekend. That would be awesome to be able to keep that annex up there. I had no idea it would fit under the cover.
BTW, TDI install after a year-very exciting. I know what that feels like. I had to drive a rented purple PT cruiser for 6 months waiting on my TDI conversion. Almost killed myself.
Craig, you know I've got your back. You've got a great product. After using your software for a while, and having to deal with sourcing topo for my Iphone for my trips this year in Guatemala and Africa, I have some very updated and specific ideas on what's needed that doesn't exist for a global...
do it! I mounted a 40 watt panel set to my roof cargo box recently and very pleased with results. Was prepared to mount an additional 60-100 watt panel on my RTT softcover, but doesn't look like it's necessary. The RTT hard shell is an excellent place to mount one.
When I was in Botswana in August this year, the Botswana Defense force was busy replacing all their TDI defenders with 2012 Pumas. They had hundreds on hand fresh from factory with many more still pending delivery.
do tell! I've always thought about experimenting with stowing my T Top with the annex walls. Right now, I keep them in a duffle bag that only bring when needed, because they are a piece of work to install in camp. Keeping them attached would be sweet.
After driving a 2011 130 in Botswana for 30 days, I'd say if you can make the Puma field fixable, I'd buy that all day long with a bag of chips! that powertrain was sweet!
Agreed! It adds character..like a steamer trunk immigration sticker. Makes people want to ask "where have you been?"
Hope you took advantage of the opportunity to do that needed underbody inspection and maintenance while it was laying on it's side patiently for you!
What is done here is to put the security grills on the rear side sliding windows, the rear door and rear quarter glass, and then install a full length steel dog guard separating the middle row from the rear compartment. This creates a security area in the rear cargo area for all the valuables...
One of my faves and best snorkel argument movie ever. That movie also inspired my "rule of life #134": Whenever presented with option of getting in a HMMVW or a 2WD passenger van when evacuating a natural disaster-always get in the HMMVW.
Well it’s time for lunch and setting up the encampment. We work together as a much more efficient team, knowing the standard that NLX uses (which I have since shamelessly emulated with my own gear). Tables, chairs, whip open the rear door of Remus. Some crackers, a little tuna, some capers...
After the turn, about 30 minutes later we broke out of the jungle and arrived at the entrance! Hurray! My stomach said to me “it’s about damn time!” and I agreed with it. A quick group picture at the entrance sign….
…and the next entrance sign
…and we arrive into the campground...
