The Ox - flat pack truck

Interesting but not something I'd expect to ever see in the US or pretty much any developed country. I'm sure you could overcome the emissions issues based on what powertrain you used but good luck with crash/safety standards. Of course this is not what it's developed for anyway. I do...

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

I've had my STT Pros on for almost a year now and maybe 8K miles. I'm happy with them. Good durability in rocks, good clearing in mud. OK on the street, though they are louder and cost me a little mpg over the Duratracs they replaced. They're also pretty heavy. Not very good in snow, but...

    LLAMS goes full Viagra

Thanks for the head's up. I had actually sort of forgotten about it since I don't use it much anyway and it's not effecting the usability of the truck, plus I went and did my boat thing for a while which sort of got my head out of the Rover world. Certainly won't hurt to do try the calibration...

    LR3 Coil spring conversion kit

They sell them for air suspension trucks as 'bump stop extensions', but really all they are is a 2" fabricated spacer that fits between the top of the strut and the chassis mounting point. While it doesn't provide any lift to a truck on air since the height sensors just adjust the ride height...

    2012 LR4 Build Thread

That's basically what I was doing with my LLAMS device. I left it in 'neutral' with no height change but ran rods full-time. When I was going to be doing some extended highway running I'd click to the lower setting (30mm down? I forget) for reduced drag. it seemed to give a small mileage...

    2012 LR4 Build Thread

Agreed. I run the rods for my lift and use the GAP for calibration and diag work. Technically you could run the rods AND lift further with the GAP, but that's asking for trouble and would result in about .004" down travel in the suspension.

    LLAMS goes full Viagra

The two aren't really and 'either or' situation. The GAP tool will give you some lift options yes, but it's really a diagnostic tool first and foremost and highly recommended. The LLAMS is an on-the-fly height solution. If you can only have one, I'd pick the GAP every time just because it can...

    LR3 Coil spring conversion kit

I suppose you could just use the Proud Rhino spacers with coils too.

    LR3 Coil spring conversion kit

Actually, it's not even that advanced. I think he's got sections of square tube bolted in above the spring. It has been a few months since I saw it though so he may have made some changes. He said he had a heck of a time with the handling at first but eventually got it aligned reasonably well...

    LR3 Coil spring conversion kit

Yes, he's running 33s. Here's the 'how': He's got the +2" coils which in theory should give you about the stock 'off road' height. Then he has some home-made spacers on top of those so he's about +5-6" total I'd guess. I know he sits a bit higher than I do with Johnson Rods when I'm in...

Good question. It basically went 'full viagra'. Story here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/162729-LLAMS-goes-full-Viagra?p=2154606#post2154606

    LLAMS goes full Viagra

...if it stays up for over an hour seek professional assistance.... I've been off the forum for about a month now. First I was on a week long trip in the Rover then a week long trip by boat in BC. I'm just now getting back to reading the forum to see what's been going on in my absence. And...

    LR3 Tire Decision Time

I'm late to this discussion as I was actually up in the OP's neck of the woods cruising a bit. Spent 2 nights on the dock in Vancouver actually. RE: BFG mud terrains - forget it. A, I don't think they are even available in the sizes you need and B, they are crap on snowy roads as are most...

New product from Proud Rhino! The SYA Off Road Extension Kit

I haven't messed with this system in a while or heard anything new about the limit strap routing. There could be news, I just haven't been paying any attention. I suspect you may be able to make the system work with some fiddling, I just haven't had the urge to get back into it. I've actually...

    2012 LR4 Build Thread

I'd disagree - no real negative to running the rods over the GAP reprogram. In fact, with some trucks you won't be able to get much lift with just the GAP tool. I've covered this before, but I first thought I'd run just the GAP for lift and found I could only get about 1.5" as I recall (I...

    Discovery II Questions

Here's an example of the top-of-the range in a turn-key built low mileage LR3 from this very site. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/153398-2008-Land-Rover-LR3-HSE-LUX-w-locker Obviously most of them don't sell in this price range these days, but at the least it gives you some...

    Discovery II Questions

Ah yes, the old 'how reliable are they' question. The answer is...depends. The D2 certainly doesn't have the best reputation but that's mostly down to the people who bought them thinking it was a Mercedes or other luxury SUV, not an off-roader. To that end, those people tend to be 'drive and...

    electrical systems

Everything you said is true. I was running an Odyssey gp31 in my Land Rover LR3 and had to ditch it for a Northstar, also a group 31. Much happier with it. The charging system of the Rover and the Odyssey's unique requirements didn't play well together. If you're designing from scratch, a...
