LR3/LR4 REQUIRED UPGRADE: Prevent Rear Door Failure for ~$25

Yet one more reason I wish I had a 5 seat instead of a 7.

LR3/LR4 REQUIRED UPGRADE: Prevent Rear Door Failure for ~$25

I agree it's a bit complex but as you said, it ends up looking factory and should work excellent. My only complaint is it makes me feel a little shabby as I was just planning to run a small loop of s/s wire that I could pull in case of failure. :) And I haven't even gotten around to that!

    An LR3 on the Rubicon

Yeah, I've met him at Nick's place and we did some snow wheeling together over the winter - can't think of his name off the top of my head. He's thinking of doing at least part of the Rubicon this year, but he doesn't have any armor. That helps give him a bit more clearance but he's already...

    An LR3 on the Rubicon

As for gears, I'd like to re-gear now with the 33s but I don't know anybody selling gearsets for these diffs and all the stock options from LR4, RRS, gas/diesel are all going the wrong way; they're taller, not shorter. I also agree that you'd need to do a LOT of work to get 35s on it, at which...

Attack of the new mini vans

I've seen a few around on the road, but certainly not being used as family transport. They are cargo vans built for working out of, never intended to haul a family. I currently run an NV200 as my work van and it's generally adequate but it's a soul sucking appliance to actually drive. That...

    Feeler: 2008 LR3 HSE

Looks like you also have a snorkel from the pics that you didn't mention in your extras. You should also mention if it has the rear locker as that's a desirable option. Pricing...hard to say; it looks nice and it's built with good parts but $25K is a lot for any LR3 these days when you can...

It's a regular treasure-trove of restraint and taste! Be sure to post the 'after' pics to cleanse the pallet.

Are Non-Genuine OE Lower Control Arms Acceptable?

Don't ask me...I've bought parts by phone plenty of times but my results with Nielo Sacramento have been mixed over the last few years. Livermore was helpful except they didn't call me when the parts came in that morning as they said they would. I waited until noon and called them but got...

    An LR3 on the Rubicon

And even if you did coils and that much lift you'd still have problems getting 35s on it. First you'd need to do a lot of cutting - the 33s will rub a bit as it is. But mostly you'd have trouble with the CVs as you'd be really stressing them at that much lift. I've broken one (well, two but...

    Rubicon by Rover

I'll try to pic a handful of pics out and put them in the thread but there are way too many to include all of them plus the videos. It will probably have to wait until I get home this weekend as I'm limited to a cell connection while I'm working and I've put a huge dent in my data plan already...

    Rubicon by Rover

I'm far from a HAM expert...I pretty much just do what the other guys in the club who are more into it recommend. I'm running a Yaesu 8800. 50w on high. The real key of course is the antenna and it's placement. I have a Diamond CR....uh, 32? I forget! It's a dual band break-away. I made a...

Yes, I have the locking diff. It's still not as good as a manual locker for serious stuff but it's not bad and in some instances the variable lock up is an advantage.

    An LR3 on the Rubicon

Two things. First, poor approach angles. It sticks out about a mile. Second, horrible winch access. You have to reach through a tiny hole and bend your hand around to get to the clutch. If I were doing it over I wouldn't think twice - I'd go with the Tactical bumper. I also don't really...

    Rubicon by Rover

Hopefully the other guys have some video of the LR3. I don't since of course I was driving it. Glad to hear that was 'somebody' in the Disco I saw in Elk Grove. I was driving my Hello Kitty van (NV200) but if I'd been able to get up next to you at a stop light I was going to pass a club card...

Nice. Even though I'm a died-in-the-wool anti-GM guy I'd gladly drop an LS into my RRC if it wasn't such a logistical nightmare to deal with CA smog.

Unfortunately Google Photos won't host pictures for forums. Why I have no idea, but when I want to put pics in a forum post I have to host them on my photobucket account which is painfully slow. So I went the easy way and just put up the gallery link.

    An LR3 on the Rubicon

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should The Rubicon – that’s a name to inspire dreams! Unquestionably the most famous trail in the country and possibly the world, the Rubicon is on every off-roader’s bucket list. It’s certainly been on mine for a while now. Talk to any old timer and...
