As pointed out there are lots of generic heat exchangers out there you could build from. I've toyed with the idea for a while now but never actually done it.
My question for you is how hot does it actually get the shower water? I wondered if a single pass exhanger would bring cold water up to...
I don't think I'd go with the product in the link. If you're going to do a DC-DC charger might as well do a proper one that will give you the best charge on the aux battery. I don't think you'd get much better performance with that than just connecting it directly to your existing 12v system...
If you have it in the budget an actual DC-DC charger would be much preferred and would do a lot to maximize your little battery. It will also give you a spec on how much current it will draw at maximum output so you can do the math and figure out how large your wiring needs to be for the...
As noted by OffGridCamper, I too grew up with it; my father taught me most of the basics when I was a kid and I learned much of it just watching and listening when he was doing something to the family car. I started by wrenching on my bicycle, then when I turned 16 I started wrenching on my car...
Yup...the more time I put in on the bigger/heavier tires the more I wish I had about 10% more gearing. I think it would even help my highway mileage as I can't stay in full lock-up overdrive on anything but dead flat, no head-wind, speed limit only driving. And the gap between 1-2 is just...
You can basically remove as much as you want. On the earlier trucks they were simple bolt-ons that you could remove entirely. I won't go into the mod list for bigger tires as it's been covered many times, but if you can't find what you need give me a shout. I've done a few and currently run...
If you know anybody installing/who has installed Tactical Rovers sliders they cover that area up and you remove most of the stock plastic to install them anyway so perhaps they might have the part you want laying around. The wouldn't have the external part that is missing in the pic as that...
Is it just the little plastic trim piece that appears to be missing behind the front passenger tire? If so it's nothing to worry about - an easy part to replace. Finding one may be a little harder but if you can find a truck in a pick-n-pull it just snaps off. Otherwise you might try British...
The original Arrnots used Bilstiens. The weren't better than stock. That's also what I snapped while playing in the rocks last year. So far, so good with the revised version but I don't have a lot of hard use on them yet.
I'm going to say both age and weight.
After adding all the gear to my truck I decided to run it over a CAT scale one day on the way back from a weekend trip. Since I was returning home I didn't have full water or food but did have my gear on board. Without people it was over 7000lbs...
Drew's regulator was partially working. He would get a little over 12 up to occasionally 13v so while not right, it was enough to keep him alive for the drive home. I haven't spoken with him since to find out anything more.
As a participant in this little event who was also driving an LR3 and who did the deepest, sloppiest mud of the day, I might point out that my rig not only went home under it's own power but left the next day for a couple of nights in the Sierras.
What's the difference you ask?
I didn't...
Yes - rock crawl is by far the best way to get the center engaged.
So many times I've wished I could manually control the lockers on the LR3, but it's just not so. RC is the best you can do.
