The ideal case has always been tiny and simple urban vehicles. Small range, small battery packs. Quiet, no pollution. Save the ICE for long trips, and hauling loads.
If it's a well made camper on a fully boxed truck chassis, then you really don't need a subframe... or something minimal would be sufficient. If you want to take the camper off and haul loads, that's a different scenario. If you have a C-channel chassis with a lot of torsional flex, that is yet...
The Tacoma DC long (6') has a 141" wheelbase, and the Tundra RC has a 127" wheelbase... just for more data points.
The Tundra is ~5" wider, but don't know about the turning radius. Old ones are better than new in that regard, though.
I took for granted that you knew what you were talking about, but I don't see anything regarding Isuzu truck chassis being discontinued. Fuso is a Mitsubishi truck, and these have been phased out.
With the Isuzu NPR being readily available, and having a GM drivetrain these should be perfectly...
That's a pretty tight difference honestly, since the Tacomas aren't that little anymore.
What dstefan said about the 2nd gen (2007-2021) Tundra is true. Better turning radius than the 1st gen and definitely better than the new ones, or any other fullsize... except for the 450(0)+ trucks.
Just wondering about the green! That's in the rainy season, so plants are happy and busting out... but it's usually pretty green all year at high elevation, except for late spring most years.
Oh they have some very nice features like being able to see where you are going and putting more in a wheelbase... but it's not worth the hassle and expense for most people.
The Isuzu and Fuso aren't 4wd either... gotta pay $$$ to convert.
Just start with a 450(0)+ level C&C and make your life easier. Assuming this will be used in North America.
No it wouldn't. If the states get control of the land, they have no obligation to keep it public. The only reasons states want control is to make $$$ from it.
He said epoxy...?
I tried a few different cheap epoxies, and like the basic EBond the best. The smell never bothered me at all, while some of the others did... but none were close to polyester resin or 2x PU paint for toxic odor.
Very close. In '84 I bought a SR5 XtraCab, 5spd, 2.4L fuel injected, 2wd, no AC for $8k. With the 3.15x inflation factor, that is $25k in today's money. $13k for the Champ is quite cheap, but it would cost more if sold here. I remember back in 2016 when I paid $31.2k ($41.5k today) for my Tundra...
Done did it, for $13k... but not available in the US. https://www.slashgear.com/1866075/toyota-hilux-champ-13000-dollar-pickup-truck-details/
Gas 2.0l, 5spd, 2wd, 2700 lbs (for the long variant), 2,200+ lb payload.
