What brand deep cell do I want?

Well odyssey puts metal jackets (on the MJ models) to help cut down on heat absorption. That's about all I do in Arizona (dry heat but 120F+ in the summer). I'd be interested in hearing if there are other lengths people have gone to.

What brand deep cell do I want?

I got my odyssey 1700 from sierra expeditions! I plan on doing a 1700 main and a 925 backup only.

    Revised Expedition Portal Net script.

Hah I guess I'm blind! You might consider saying what directed means shortly. Probably overkill, but it's not bad to remind people what that entails?

Sounds good to me. =) We don't get much weather here in Phoenix so I'm not sure how helpful I can be, but I'd love to hear more about it.

    Revised Expedition Portal Net script.

looks good to me. You might put in your text something about the kind of net you intend to run. A "directed" net or whatever other type you'd like. I know we did a round robin style on tues and you did state that, but it could be something you add to the net along with briefly how that works...

I'm going to give it a shot tonight. Now that I have a good external antenna my repeater options are much larger. If I can get a good stable IRLP repeater, I'd take net control in the future if necessary.

Lance you may want to check the repeaters in your area and encourage the owners to reestablish their IRLP link. I found that most of the ones listed in the phoenix area were down unfortunately.

I tried to join but the only repeater that was actually working (IRLP wise) was in use by another net. 444.300 has been down for days unfortunately. =T Hope to catch you guys next time.

I'm in north phoenix around 12th st and hatcher and the only IRLP one I can hit with my portable is phx 444.300+. It's not all that clear though.

Lance what repeater do you use in AZ? No reason to tie two up if we can use the same one.

check the link that crawler posted for me to see if there is a repeater in your area that supports IRLP reflection. If so, then yes.

I've never dialed into IRLP before so hopefully I can figure that part out. I know that a couple of the repeaters near me support it.

KE7PQW, I'm going to try to make it. I'm completely new to ham though so it's probably not a good idea for me to do net control
