Hierarchy of hard sided campers that handle the snow/winter?

The composite board may have R4/in or so if it's foam + fiberglass like Coosa. The PP honeycomb samples I've seen are sealed in manufacture with air inside; when I got them at 7,000 ft where I live, there was a little bubble above each cell! I don't think they are being evacuated during...

Feeler: DIY / Custom Sandwich Panel Boxes

I'm using the lightest PVC foam @ 4 PPCF, which works out to 0.333 PPSF/inch. Check the math. Your skins make these very heavy, with adequately robust panels typically ~1.5 PPSF total, rather than 3+. Have you experimented with thinner aluminum?

2022 Ford F550 - DIY - Adventure Expedition Vehicle Build Thread

I gotta know... about how many hours do you figure you'll have in this before it's finished?

    One Bad Battery

As other's have said, you will ruin a LiFe battery if you charge it at a significant rate when the battery is below freezing. Discharging is fine at much colder temps. If you will frequently be in much colder temps, it's best to get a battery with a heater built in, and a BMS that will divert...

Thoughts for an Overlander in today's market? Suggestions?

It was on the list for worst reliability via Consumer Reports. I'm pretty sure they didn't fire guns at it though, so I guess they still could be bullet proof. 🤪

    2021 Adventure Overlander F550 4x4 "Expedition" vehicle

Really... you never drive on trails where this departure angle would be a problem? Also, it looks like typical RV habitat construction.

    NPS fines AWD owners…

And... the assumption from the article that 4wd will have lockers, is not correct either.

Fiberglass cloth on plywood: order of operations

This would be my vote for sure. Add a layer to the seams later with cloth tape. I would absolutely challenge that 6-10x cost thing! Unless you are using crap materials your savings will be minimal. Marine ply isn't cheap! I'd like to see you break it down in some detail. And emulating...

    Outpost Truck Campers

I had a look at their site and they aren't in the habit of advertorials at least, and haven't gotten enough clicks on any videos to warrant much of a discount on anything. Regarding the overhead bunk and balance... couldn't you supply a large rock that they can stick in the back of the shell...

    NPS fines AWD owners…

They increase the gearing range a little, but it's more for MPG than anything else. By comparison, the transfer case on my truck is a 2.64:1 ratio. Comparing a F150 10spd 3.73 to my Tundra, the overall gearing is: F150: 1st = 17.5 Tundra: 1st = 14.3, 1st Lo = 37.8 So 1st on the F150 is...

    Starlink Mini Power Setup Questions

When I investigated the Mini, I saw that it draws ~30W in use. Even if your laptop is a large gaming beast like mine, it typically draws <20W unless doing heavy work. Use auto adapters for your laptops, rather than the inverters. You need the Wh capacity of the power station, or whatever you...

    Lightweight E-MTB, does it exist?

It isn't a market I've explored, but since half decent full suspension bikes are ~35 lbs, it seems that your specs are unrealistic. What do you want the "e" for? One example that is $5200 and 45 lbs...

heavy steel bumper vs oem bumper damage

One thing that's sure is that the heavier bumper will do more damage to the thing you hit! 🤪 I think ideally, bumpers would have strong and stiff outer piece with a flex element between that and the frame.

    Fan to mitigate dust

The simple solution is a hole in your habitat where the air pressure is high when you are moving (front), along with a shroud to keep rain out, as well as a screen to keep out bugs. If your rig is well sealed, this hole doesn't need to be large, because there won't be much airflow through it.

Hierarchy of hard sided campers that handle the snow/winter?

They use PP honeycomb rather than foam, and thin at that, so it isn't going to have the thermal resistance of a bridgeless foam shell. It's probably fine for most use, but it wouldn't be ideal for cold winter camping.

Crew cab long bed (8ft) for overlanding??? Is this viable or realistic?

The size is essentially the same, just a few inches wider at the front axle (and would be at the rear also with SS wheels). No need to get a diesel, the 7.3L gas engine is available in the cab-chassis. Price difference isn't much. Weight is about 500 lbs more based on my quick search. A storage...
