It kinda depends on how picky you are. Is the 7.3L "deficiency" (compared to the 6.7L) going to bug you on a regular basis, or is "good enough" speed and acceleration going to be just fine? And on the other hand, would the cost, weight, extra maintenance, extra complexity of the diesel annoy you?
If you are looking for permission to go with gas... granted!
I haven't driven either, but the diesel specs... are impressive. More power and double the torque... and with the turbos you shouldn't lose much at altitude. But, I don't think I'd want the diesel unless a full delete was also...
Ha! 🤣 I can relate... Yes, she'll get better with practice. Hopefully your truck will survive that. Women tend to have inferior spacial awareness due to many millenia of specialization, but they can make up for it through experience and being careful.
The model Tundra I have is quite a...
I think I hate traction control more... don't know who the genius was who determined that it was a good idea to make your car/truck refuse to turn its wheels when it gets slippery... and disabling that is a process.
It would be fine if we could turn these things on or off and it would stay...
I'm thinking of a simple, very light, enclosed 1-2 person EV... with limited speed and range. It would be a particular class. Fit to purpose for the majority of personal vehicle use. Save your 4wd truck for the times you need it.
It sorta baffles me that whenever I mention things like this...
Only because our infrastructure is designed to accommodate and favor using big trucks absolutely everywhere. I don't know what you mean by "econobox" but I'm referring to simple vehicles that are much smaller than a compact car. This sort of transportation would be very efficient, cheap, and...
Yes... I think 99% of us would prefer to have this always on. The aggravating and dangerous aspect is that you have to push a button after every start. So sometimes you forget to turn it on or turn it off... which means the response of the throttle can be very different than what you expect.
It's always nice to have more, but all the semi modern V8s in 1/2-1 tons have plenty of power to haul a camper and not slow down traffic. The rating is 385hp for all of the 6.2s. 17+ has a bit more torque. Specs are almost identical to my truck with the 5.7L. Same number of gears too.
HP is...
Thanks for the kind words. I was pretty angry when they (once again!) dinked around with an obviously dangerous fire until it was too late...
Finally got some wireless internet. Slow, but better than nothing. I'll probably make a thread about it soon.
I'd be surprised if they were in a big hurry to spend a bunch of money...;) Replacing all these engines would sure keep the engine plant busy. Or if they just do an overhaul, that will keep the mechanics even busier. There is a general slowdown in auto sales... I think... plus these in...
It may be effecting a small % now, but with the official cause being "metal filings left in the engine", that's going to effect longevity in a big way.
Toyota has recalled 102,000 vehicles. They haven't said exactly what they are going to do, but a full engine replacement is the only fix that...
Sad for sure! Toyota is going to lose a ton of $$$ on this (and the owners as well). And their rep is in the toilet.
A modest update of the 5.7L would have been much cheaper and much better received.
Probably because you are comparing to Cooper ST Maxx which are pretty awful in this respect.
Weight is irrelevant to rolling resistance. Best proxy for mpg in AT tires is speed rating, but it's best to compare tires of the same size and load. I didn't say it was a great proxy, but it's the best...
I played with mine today, and the lid itself moves a lot and rattles if it isn't either open or closed all the way.
And... when it's set to blow in rather than out, it doesn't seem to do much at all... even with the vent open.
