    1991 Suburban 2500

Haha... your reference to midlife crisis is funny. In 2004 when I bought my first Rubicon (moved up from a Cherokee) my son, who was 8 or 9, said, "Dad is this your midlife crisis?" I replied, "Maybe but a jeep is better than 20 and blonde". He and I went on for the following years hitting...

Mounted my Engo 9000 winch today. Pulled it off the jeep. Had to add some holes since this old school Warn Bumper is set up for an 8274. Install went fine. Here are some completed pics. This commits me to taking the suburban on my trip to the Winter Safari in Western North Carolina later...

Awesome info. Thank you. I do not think I have the air pump.

    My `89 Suburban

Just read the whole thread. Great work on your Burb. Like so many have said just the simple idea of the door table and storage for tools is awesome. On your engine rebuild are you going back to stock specs of building for more power/torque, etc?

    Suburbillac (aka Woofwagon) Shakedown

Nice pics. I am eager to get mine into the snow if we get any here this year. Sorry to hear about your gas can. Always amazes me when people just take stuff that is not theirs.

Thanks Dale - still working things out as she turns over to a 1/4 century, but I am enjoying the learning process.

Thanks! It is the 9.5 sf. I think it is plenty of axle for my needs but I do want to get a locker as soon as I can. With all the rain we have had recently, I darn near had to use 4wd just to get out to the road.

OK. Good day to day. I know you are all waiting anxiously to know... And yes... we did pick up the new goat. A big Nubian, biggest goat I have ever seen. I am going to strap him to the bumper instead of a winch... However, a good day because I finally got THE RADIO up to 100% :-) New...

    Cot vs. Air Mattress

I am going to offer a different route than most have here. As was said there are differences in air mattresses. When I did my trailer build this summer I did a fair amount of research on it and wound up with this air mattress. We love it. Properly inflated, it is a very comfortable sleep...

Mike, I remember you well from over on ROF. I have not spent much time there lately but in my previous rubi build it was my go to resource. I appreciate your input. I have always just thrown the CB antenna on the rig and called it good. Just did not know if it was different on a big ole...

Wow. I really appreciate this information. The t-stat is as easy as they come so I will look into that right away. I think the stock gauge is a bit off so I do not know what temp we are operating at actually. The fan mod I will research for sure. Can you help me identify the "air pump"...

    Suburban Adventurer

Right on Brother. I am digging that roof rack and the fact that you can 1) load a ton of stuff on it...because... well, just because and 2) If you put a platform up there you can drag a cooler up and drink beers and have a view :-) Nice Burb. John

I like this. I do not "need" a roof rack... or a ladder to get up to it...but I want one :-)

    1991 Suburban 2500

Thanks Chiliwak. I am sans a camera at the moment and I do not operate with a smart phone, so I will catch up when I get the camera situation rectified. Quick update: I mounted the ORD steering box brace. Very straightforward install once I figured out the positioning. Took some grinding...

Built to purpose or purpose to build?

I am in the midst of this as we speak. I love to build vehicles. Time in the shop is one of the ways I escape the "real" world. I have been a lifelong (well growed up life anyway) Jeep guy. I have been doing this long enough to remember when 31's were big *** tires. I have had and modified...

Thanks for checking in Dale! Burb is doing well. The brace seems to add some stability, although I am super interested in getting the borg shaft in and seeing if it tightens things up a bit. We are in VA for the next couple days and I have to say that at this point this vehicle traveling on...
