Hmm, good point. I guess turning the torsion bar to adjust ride height really isn't "pre-load". Poor term to use. I guess i use it out of habit, thinking of motorcycles and mountain bikes, where turning the collar on the shock body pushes the spring down and increases ride height. I guess in...
I thought quigley put solid axles under the chev's, just like they do on Ford.
Don't mean to sound negative here, just trying to help figure this issue out... Neither of those options makes sense to me because:
A. Unless your van is resting on it's bump stops, the torsion bars are still...
It is a roadtrek interior conversion, or at least that's what the roof says. I guess that doesn't mean that sportsmobile couldn't have done the 4x4 though.
Good tips, thanks guys.
I got the van back last week (finally, a month after i bought it) and it drives MUCH better now. Apparently the shaft in the TPS was broken, so it wasn't really functioning at all. Now it has much better power and driveability. I need to get some highway miles on it now...
I agree with both! Used tools are the way to go. I got one new tool for christmas. Returned it and bought 3 used tools. I just try to be very careful to do what i can to not support theft. Obviously there are issues with pawn shops and used-tool shops supporting theft in a somewhat indirect way...
pgchustla, 21mpg, really?! Is that a 'live' reading from a scanguage at a particular moment, or is that an average over a whole tank of fuel? I just can't see 21 happening in a full size v8 van. That's awesome though if it really is an average!
Zuren, you are obviously tracking the data...
What kind of mileage exactly do you get?
I was pretty dead-set on Ford, and bought one, and have been a bit shocked by the mileage. Granted mine is a lited, one ton 4x4 with a huge top on it. The Chevy seems to get quite a lot better mileage. My brother has an AWD Express for work, loaded...
Oh, i see. I guess I don't have any idea where it's leaking, i just know that it is leaking. I might have to clean it up and keep an eye on it before i do anything else, to see if i can tell where it's coming from.
For now, i'm just having them service the diffs, trans, and fix the throttle...
I can use my dad's shop, which has a lift to get the van almost high enough for me to stand upright under it (would be no problem if i didn't have the high-top).
The case definitely appears to be leaking, I noted that when i bought the van, so I have no reason not to believe them. I think they...
My van is in the shop getting a couple things worked out, and they said the transfer case is leaking and will need to be split and re-sealed.
I'm pretty capable mechanically, i'm sure i COULD do this job, just trying to decide if I WANT to. Is it a pain in the ***, or a relatively simple job...
Axle on the mantle eh, haha.... yup, might keep ya single!
SHO engine? As in Yamaha/Ford? Is it a particularly cool engine? Don't really know anything about them except that for some reason they were punished by being stuck in a ford taurus *shudder*
This i had not heard of before. That may address my single biggest complaint with the poptop, and the main reason i went with a hard-top. If that really works well, i may be inclined to go that route, because the giant hard-top is not doing my fuel economy (or rather, the lack thereof) any good...
