The 3rd Gen montero is a hub centric design. You should use hub rings if using larger bore wheel. Yes, it can work but not proper. Hub is designed to center wheel and take the load. What you can get away with and how it is designed are two different things.

It does fine on road. Sucks off road with 4.30s and 33s. I was running 33.5" tires with 4.30s for some time. 4.90s so much better on the trail and stock power on road.
How tall does you platform sit above the truck bed? What is your head clearance from top of the platform to canopy? Like the direction you're going with this.
A fair bit was high elevation (over 5,000ft) with climbs and descents. I keep at 60-65mph. It is happiest just under 65mph. I'm not in a big hurry and enjoy the journey.
Yeah, Central Oregon has a bunch of the volcanic razor type rocks. I've done limited travel with the tires in that area. However, will be running trails for 2 days in a couple weekends down there. Will let you know if I kill any tires. :)
Destroyed the sidewall on one tire. Freak situation, not on a trail. Have just shy of 10k miles on them.
